Wow, punching a mountain lion. She's lucky that she didn't become lion chow.

I hope she’s not in trouble for assaulting the mountain lion. I believe they are protected in California. Women and dogs not so much.

That wouldn’t have happened if she had a Bulldog.

The lady appears to hungry (ribs showing) and sick. She has been around the area for the last day or so.

So very sad.

This brave woman lost a beloved friend. I’d go to bat for my kitty too, but then I do have the right equipment....problem is, it might not be close enough if mountain lion came into the yard and launched a quick attack. Who could anticipate that?

LA Woman? She probably voted to protect the mountain lions. She made her bed. All stories should contain political affiliation of the participants.

Sorry for the woman’s tragic loss. Folks, watch your heartless comments.

This is in Simi Valley, not LA. They are worlds apart.

Correct.

The smart thing to do would be to stay in the house and call 911.

If you decide not to do the smart thing and don’t have a firearm the next smartest thing to do is take a flay knife (which every kitchen knife set has but few people ever use, so it is most likely still sharp) and cut the tendons behind the lion’s jaw to release the dog.

I can’t fathom why the cat stayed in the yard and just didn’t grab the dog and run back into the woods.

I pry jaws open with my Walther. It’s like American Express I don’t go anywhere without it.

Its mouth was full, she could have whacked it in the head with a pitching wedge. In Texas they get shot.

Never take just finger nails to a cat fight.

She should have been packing a .357 at least around her place in cat country.

(Its been warm here. A bear came out of hibernation and is wandering around at night. The 12 gauge Nova pump loaded with 7 x slugs is near at hand.)

Wish she knew her territory and had the will to be packin’.

Well at least she gets to bury the dog. She would have felt much worse if the last time she saw her dog it was being carried away by the lion. They need to find the lion and put it down but of course this is Cali so maybe not.
