It’s the smart move. Bama will be fine with Mac Jones.

I have a sneaking feeling New England will get him.

The worry is Tua even if becomes 100% healthy might develop arthritis in his hip socket early. He might drop into a good situation and be able to sit out his first year. Then be ready for a good 3 or 4 seasons to get to the 2nd contract.

LOL, I think once Tua realized that Burrow would be the one going to Cincinnati, it would be ok for him to turn pro.

I hope he heals and enjoys a long career in the NFL! He’s a class act as far as I can tell.

Tua Tagovailoa explains his decision to leave Alabama early for the 2020 NFL Draft

The only explanation needed is "common sense". He's already suffered one season-ending injury playing without pay for a coach who makes over $7 million a year in a program that collects over $100 million a year in revenue. He can return for another season without any pay and risk another injury (maybe career-ending this time), or he can get drafted in the first round by an NFL team and get paid millions.

That’s my thinking, go to New England, have a year as Brady’s understudy, then be ready to take over the reins when Brady moves on.

He doesn’t “explain” his decision, though I think he made the right one.

One article I read that suggested he shouldn’t leave used the argument that he would be drafted high first round and more money if he waited a year (and didn’t get injured again). I think that is a specious argument for two reasons. One, he would have to wait an extra year to get the real big money in his veterans’ contract, and two because it would be better for his long term career prospects to be drafted LATE in the first round by a team with a winning culture and a better offensive line than a team that doesn’t know how to win and is likely to have a porous o-line and/or no other offensive skill positions (RB/TE/WR) to throw to.

If he drops to where a 12-4 team can draft him, a lot of stupid teams will have made bad choices before then. But a lot of stupid teams make bad choices each year.

I think Mac Jones’ play showed that Bama really didn’t need for Tua to come back.

I like Jones a lot, I'd stick with him. Talia may have to transfer to get playing time.

... cause Jalen Hurts left Alabama to play for Oklahoma...

“NEW YORK — Oklahoma’s fifth Heisman Trophy finalist in four years, quarterback Jalen Hurts finished runner-up in the final balloting for the 2019 version of college football’s most prestigious honor.”

In hindsight, it was a big mistake, knowing now what he had in Jones.

LSU won that game, because Tua was no threat to run, that was a huge help to LSU’s defense. If Jones plays that game, not saying Bama would have won, but I think the game may have been even closer.

Brady's a free agent. Highly unlikely he'll be with the Pats next year.
