Stupid Frenchie. I grew up in the NYC metro area. One learns never to go into the triple digit street numbers in Manhattan.

And who flies to New York City to eat in an IHOP? I didn’t even know we had them.

Does NYC have no go areas due to insane Muslim terrorists, like in Paris France?

Kalief Young, the NYC throat slasher.

“Khalief Young...is said to have carried out at least two random attacks before.”

Go stake him to a dog chain on Bloomberg’s front lawn! His policies allow for the Lunatics to run the Asylum!

Glad the guy survived. He is very, VERY lucky!

“slashed in a random attack”

It wasn’t random.

Gabriel didn’t perform due diligence before visiting New York...of all that is unholy...and wound up with two tracheotomies.

What a terrible story, this poor man!

However, going to an IHOP in Harlem on a Friday night sounds REALLY dangerous to me.

What a miserable excuse for a Frenchman. Everybody knows that for Valentine’s Day, an IHOP in Harlem isn’t nearly as romantic as the hospital cafeteria in Wuhan, China. :-P

I worked in those triple digit numbered streets in NYC in the 1970s, on two different jobs/occasions. I never had a single problem, not even when leaving the office very late at night and forgetting (remembering incorrectly) which street I had parked my car on that morning.

1. Many neighborhoods in NYC in Brooklyn and the Bronx were worse from crime than Harlem.

2. Most violent crime was drug related and carried out between those dealing with drugs.

3. Random attacks by some crazy individual were not particular to or most frequent to Harlem than elsewhere.

Harlem isn’t as bad as it was in the 70s and 80s, but still there is NO reason to go to 132nd St.

I think Europeans hear “Harlem” and think its some sort of cultural Wakanda.

I get to NYC all the time for work but it is rare I leave midtown area and I don’t go out at night past about 8:30pm...occasionally finishing dinner about 9.

I just watched a Thomas Sowell interview from the Hoover Institution where he talks about being a boy living in Harlem, getting up at 3:00 AM to to go outside and visiting with a little old white guy who ran a stand selling newspapers and magazines.

He opined that if he did that today, the sanity of both him as a black man and that of the little old white guy would be questioned.

Basically, things were far safer for both blacks and whites back in the Forties in places like Harlem.
