Unless things have changed a lot (I doubt that they have.), it’s a pure wonder that MORE people don’t get killed as a LOT of DRUNKS & folks who are “doped up” try to climb up on the floats & have to be dragged off by the krewe members, security guards and/or the NOPD officers.
When I was in grad school at Tulane, I worked security for several krews & we security folks sometimes got ASSAULTED by the people, who were trying to climb ONTO the floats.
