Exactly. Why do I have to find out about a case on a US airplane buried in an article about S. Korea?

3M's oh so helpful coronavirus info page for us peons.

https://multimedia.3m.com/mws/media/1792541O/2019-novel-coronavirus-outbreak-guidance-for-individuals-regarding-the-use-of-dr.pdf

Basically says go to your local home improvement store or pharmacy and get whatever they have, namely N95 masks. Just slightly better than what the Mexican car painters do. Wet bandana.

Basically the big corps and big gov don't give a damn about us little people. It's the economy stupid. That's all they care about. Keep the big machine running because with our credit/debt based consumerism economy, one spoke breaks and the whole thing blows apart. Global recession/depression.

I feel for Trump. Just spent 3 1/2 years working on rebuilding our economy, wasn't finished yet and this happens. All because some stupid Chinaman accidentally released a bioweapon that they probably stole from us. Regardless, Trump needs to take this head on and quit trying to soothe everyone because he's worrying about the economy and re-election.(if that is what's happening)

Twitter folks are saying Trump gutted the dept that was supposed to handle pandemic response. After following links and reading articles, I find this;

The top White House official responsible for leading the U.S. response in the event of a deadly pandemic has left the administration, and the global health security team he oversaw has been disbanded under a reorganization by national security adviser John Bolton.

The abrupt departure of Rear Adm. Timothy Ziemer from the National Security Council means no senior administration official is now focused solely on global health security. Ziemer’s departure, along with the breakup of his team, comes at a time when many experts say the country is already underprepared for the increasing risks of a pandemic or bioterrorism attack.

Ziemer’s last day was Tuesday, the same day a new Ebola outbreak was declared in Congo. He is not being replaced.

Pandemic preparedness and global health security are issues that require government-wide responses, experts say, as well as the leadership of a high-ranking official within the White House who is assigned only this role.

“Health security is very fragmented, with many different agencies,” said J. Stephen Morrison, senior vice president at the Center for Strategic and International Studies. “It means coordination and direction from the White House is terribly important. ”

The personnel changes, which Morrison and others characterize as a downgrading of global health security, are part of Bolton’s previously announced plans to streamline the NSC. Two members of Ziemer's team have been merged into a unit in charge of weapons of mass destruction, and another official's position is now part of a unit responsible for international organizations. White House homeland security adviser Tom Bossert, who had called for a comprehensive biodefense strategy against pandemics and biological attacks, is out completely. He left the day after Bolton took over last month.

More like John Bolton's fault if anything.(We got bombs, just blow em up) Of course it's not like fedgov doesn't have resources right now. Too many chiefs in our bloated government that creates indecision and there's no coordination. Too many depts too. FEMA, HHS, NIH, CDC, DOD all kind of overlap. After 9/11, fedgov went hog wild creating these big depts but didn't organize the command structure evidently. Then of course Obama had 8 years to play with this big fedgov toy and load these depts up with leftists.

On that front, as a sabotage of Trump, I would expect something more like a direct attack on the stock market...even on the level of hacking into automated systems to drive the market into a full-on collapse. (Though as I’ve said before, I don’t think such a repeat of 1929 would work with Trump, even with the damage created...he’s no Herbert Hoover.)

I am exposed to the public quite a bit and have been fighting something mild off for over a week, 1/2 degree fever, but have been at least near ‘flu’ cases as well. the most interesting feature was what might have been pleurisy (not sure, never had it before) which started upper left, then next day lower left, then right side day after), but oxygenation levels have been fine. pressing on ribs causes discomfort but not sure if it should if pulmonary. isn’t a normal intracostal muscle pull.

I have read enough I wonder about ground glass process etc.

Shanghai’s leading #coronavirus treatment center will no longer prescribe anti-HIV drugs lopinavir and ritonavir after a study cast doubt on their effectiveness.

This seems like a big deal. What treatment options does that leave?? We know Remdesivir has worked (the first WA state case), but Gilead isn't allowing widespread use of it, since it's experimental. I'm sure the politicians would get it, though....

This is fresh from ECDC: "The current event in Italy indicates that local transmission may have resulted in several clusters for which an epidemiological link to areas where ongoing transmission is presumed, was not apparent. The accumulated evidence from clusters reported in the EU/EEA and the UK indicates that once imported, the virus causing COVID-19 can transmit rapidly. This may emanate from cases with mild symptoms that do not provoke healthcare-seeking behaviour. The increases in cases and the number of countries outside China reporting those cases increases the potential routes of importation of the infection into the EU/EEA and the UK."

Open borders gonna get your mama.

Allowing it to spread accomplishes so many leftist/communist goals - hurting Trump, hurting the market, depopulation, lowering carbon footprints, and will be evidence for argument for single payer healthcare.

Like I said, it’s just my musings. I really hope I am wrong

They had 1 case yesterday, so now they are testing.

I wonder what the US numbers will be once they start really testing.

This flight attendant was found infected with COVID-19 at the US Los Angeles International Airport

That's just great. How many flights has she been on in the past month? How many plans has she infected? How many crew has she worked with? How many passengers has she handed a napkin to? How many airports and hotels has she contaminated?

Coronavirus: Iran’s deputy health minister tests positive as outbreak worsens
20 minutes ago

Iran’s deputy health minister and an MP have both tested positive for the new coronavirus disease, as it struggles to contain an outbreak that has killed 15.

The senior health official, Iraj Harirchi, said in a video that he was self-isolating and starting medication.

He was seen mopping his brow repeatedly at a news conference on Monday, when he denied the authorities were lying about the scale of the Covid-19 outbreak.
