An annual trade show that brings close to 60,000 visitors to McCormick Place each year has canceled its event there this month, citing concerns about the spread of the coronavirus.

The International Housewares Association today announced it will not hold its four-day Inspired Home Show, which was scheduled for March 14-17 at the Near South Side convention center.

Okay. That’s it. We need to cancel the election in November.

Actually, for businesses _many_ are now cancelling business travel for conventions. Probably won’t pick up again until the Summer.

Many of these shows need their Asian suppliers to fly over and finish setting up booths, meet and greet, etc. Almost impossible to cancel at this late date so most of those booth rentals are -forfeited-.

Canceling two weeks out shows just how many foreign visitors were unable to make the trip.

But seriously, if you were Chinese and just had to take a trip to the US in March ... what are the chances that you would ever go back?

Probably not until after that even, until the Coronavirus fear subsides.

I work for a large international bank. Travel to Asia-Pacific is suspended indefinitely and travel to our European offices is suspended for 30 days pending review.

College basketball’s regular season is almost over. In two weeks the March Madness games begin. Thanks to the virus panic they’re toying with the idea of having the games with no spectators allowed in at the games.

Google today canceled its upcoming I/O developer conference that was set to take place on May 12 to May 14 at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, California due to the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak sweeping the United States.

Yep, it's happening all over.

Please don't misunderstand my position vs. that of my employer.

I think there's a complete over-reaction driven by fear mongering ginned up by the "news media" .....

I read today that within three days of actual work, our own NIH developed a potential vaccine that's going into Phase I trials very quickly.

That news is on the White House's website and is being largely overlooked because of "Super Thursday."

I don't buy into the media hype over this disease. The "news media" is all about keeping eyes on their cable network channels and websites. I hopped off the news media hype-from-one-crisis-to-the-next to keep eyes on them a long time ago.

It’s probably going to rip through the tech companies in King County. Surprised it already hasn’t. First the H1B Communist Chinese then the H1B Indians.

It’s hard to say they are doing the wrong thing.

Tonight it was announced that some man from New Rochelle NY, who works in Manhattan and commutes via, that’s right, Grand Central Station, has tested positive for Coronavirus. He’s a lawyer, two of the schools his children attend have been closed for right now. His children may be sick too, but I’m not sure about that.

Got an email from my boss making sure that everyone can work from home OK.

Maybe this will do for working at home what the subway strike did for wearing sneakers to commute!
