  • The Jeff Dunham Show -- TV Review

In Dunham's hand, they're also racist caricatures, full of meanness and cliches, ranging from Achmed the Dead Terrorist (a skeleton with the heavily accented catchphrase of "I kill you") to Peanut, the disturbing Muppet-like troll creature who has the hots for guest star Brooke Hogan. Whether part of the stage-act banter with Dunham (whose clenched lower jaw quivers unsettlingly) or in cutaway short-film segments (where Dunham seems pretty superfluous), their escapades are at best wretchedly crude (did we need to see a doll on the toilet?) and at worst homophobic. It's all a complete train wreck, but it still is...

It may be surprising to learn that China has a parliament. This country is, after all, a one-party state - and there are no general elections. Thousands of delegates have gathered in Beijing Still, almost 3000 delegates make up the ranks of China's legislature. Members are chosen from China's different regions. Comet break-up puts on sky show The comet is breaking into fragments. (Image: European Southern Observatory) A comet is delighting astronomers with a marvellous night-time display as it makes a near pass of the Earth. The ball of ice, rock and dust has broken up into more than 60 pieces; two of the larger fragments are visible through binoculars or small telescopes. At its closest approach this weekend, the comet will be some 10 million km (six million miles) from the Earth. Continued disintegration means this may be the last swing around the Sun for Comet 73P/Schwassmann-Wachmann 3. Good chance...

(Army News Service, May 2, 2006) – The 2006 U.S. Army Soldier Show will unveil “Reveille: Answering the Call” during a three-performance weekend May 5 through 7 at Wallace Theater. “The entire idea came from the new Army motto: Call to Duty,” said Soldier Show director Victor Hurtado. “For our civilian audience, it may illustrate why people join. For our military audience, it might remind them why – what their initial reasons were and why they continue to serve.” The bottom line, however, remains the same: “Entertainment for the Soldier, by the Soldier,” the working motto of...

4/13/2006 - SOUTHWEST ASIA -- “It’s so frustrating to come under attack, and see another one of our soldiers hurt,” said “AJ,” a Joint Terminal Attack Controller who supports the U.S. Army infantry in Iraq. “This time one of our guys lost a leg and several fingers,” said the major. “But it could have been worse if the Strike Eagles hadn’t arrived on the scene.” While hundreds of F-15E sorties fly through the Iraqi skies in any given week supporting troops on the ground, this recent mission stands out in two 336th Expeditionary Fighter Squadron crews’ minds as particularly memorable....
