I think it would be inconvenient to have a vehicle damaged in that way but I would actually be happy to have been able to help the maiman. It is a small price to pay to save someone from serious injury. I doubt that anyone could actually do 1500 worth of damage to a pickup truck by jumping in the back. Not to mention the selfish attitude of the owner. It’s just a vehicle and that mailman could be a friend in the future. A vehicle is a treasure that moth and rust consume.

I’m skeptical of the dates of the “previous” (er, new-found) scuffs and scrapes on the paint. Pickup trucks get used = Not likely to be the first person to stand inside the pickup truck bed, to load trash in it or to haul things in it.

Doesn’t mean the post office employee didn’t get in the truck, cause some damage. But all of it?

Price the Pearl-Coat base color paint at $200 a pint for a starting point. The newer vehicles have comparable repair bills to go with the window stickers.

Repaint scuffed fender, replace led turn signal, replace bumper and bumper crumple mount—above $1500. Expensive for the guy who couldn’t drive his truck without hitting the unoccupied parked Jeep. His insurance likely went up.
