According to SXSW’s terms and conditions of participation, their strict no-refund policy states, “Any and all payments made to SXSW are not refundable for any reason, including, without limitation, failure to use Credentials due to illness, acts of God, travel-related problems, acts of terrorism, loss of employment and/or duplicate purchases.”
Due to the cancellation, the festival also laid off a third of its employees, a decision referred to as “the only way to stop the bleeding” by a source to the Austin Chronicle.

I read that last year’s SXSW brought in $336,000,000 for the city. I also think it’s a total overreaction that all the cities + bands cancelling their tours, is ridiculous. But, let them fail, there is no greater joy for me than leftists going down, as they sooooooo deserve. LOL!
The mayor killed SXSW but today is telling the people of Austin that all is good and to go out to restaurants and bars as normal but NO South by Southwest.
Either all residents of Austin are immune to Corona Virus or the mayor is an idiot that that compared to a cretin would make the cretin look brilliant.
The mayor has a problem in the next election.
Some of those passes are pretty big money. There will be lawsuits.

If anyone gets sick from being out and about there’s no specific party to sue, but if someone gets sick at SXSW, there is. That’s my take.

I agree completely. This is the Left's "virtue-signalling" taken to the most absurd extreme. "I cancelled my event because I CARE!" ... So every other lib event-planner says, "If I don't cancel MY event, people will think I don't CARE!"
After Spring and Summer move across the land, and Coronavirus disappears from the American memory like SARS and Swine Flu and MERS and a hundred other end-of-the-world scares, the courts will be humming with lawsuits.
