It seems that we are being overcome by “fear porn” merchants in our community.

When millions are forced to stop working, trouble looms. Big trouble. Like a recession.

All those people, fully capable of working, effectively laid off. Using resources instead of being productive.

This will force many small and medium businesses to close. Owner and employees out of a job.

If this continues for 3-4 more weeks, it will be recession city.

The government doesn’t generate money. Peoples’ work does. The government issues money by spending it.

Once freedom is given away for safety, then there is neither freedom or safety.

It is hard to put the genie back into the bottle.

It makes me wonder if governors like Inslee and others will want to relinquish the power that they have grabbed.

That scares me more than a virus.

I have been looking at this for over a week now. The death rate is declining in the US but hey, destroy society so you can save it, right?

World % USA % Italy
Confirmed
274,699 19624 47,021
Infected
181,623 63.20% 19217 97.90% 37,860 80.5%
Deaths
11,926 4.20% 260
1.30% 4,032 8.6%
Recovered
93,615 32.60% 147
0.7% 5,129 10.9%

The reason our numbers look so good is that the number of cases is rising fast and overwhelming the deaths. The deaths are not based on the entire case number but on a cohort that was 1st sick at least 5 days ago. When numbers of cases stop rising so fast and the fatality rate will be more accurate.

“’Tis better to give than to receive.”

Has taken on a new meaning. Every citizen must weigh the risk of how and where to carry themselves. There may be a few people who purposely plague others, but we take it as matter of fact that sickness spreads despite ourselves. When does curbing certain behaviors do more harm than good? This time in history truly puts the question to corporate and individual life. I am 62 years old. I will give due diligence to sanitary meaures, but I am not about to cease work altogether.

uh, old and sick people are already quarantined. Many without much food and TP and other needed items. Many can’t afford food delivery and if they do have family, they are staying away for this crisis and many stay away all the time.

I just ordered a food delivery for my cousin who is a nurse working at NYU. She says her whole floor has been converted for COVID-19 patients and in the next day the whole hospital building will be converted. She is worried about shopping on her off time because she is considered high risk. The next food delivery I was able to arrange was Thu from Foodtown/Instacart to Jersey City where she lives.
When I started inputting her list earliest delivery was today, then Tuesday and as I checked out Thursday.

The other stores that deliver to her area were at Thursday when I first looked. The delivery & grocery pickers are going to be a bottleneck.

How about one for every child taken from the womb since Roe v. Wade?

What a wonderful act of kindness on your part. Theses are the scenarios that are being played out all across America. Wondering if it has been the same in China or Italy.

Hopefully the shutdown will noticeably help stop the spread. This will make a big difference in our confidence managing the pandemic. I live in a state that only added two cases yesterday for a total of about 45.
NYC though is a potential disaster.

I believe all human beings are capable of compassion & surprising kindness to strangers as well as family.
