My adult son gets a horrible persistent cough this time of year, every year. He’s still working but I’m sure some of his co-workers are a bit edgy hearing him cough.

Same here. Been going on since February. Constantly telling people not to freak out, I have pollen allergies.

Your son should go for allergy testing. I used to get sick near Christmas time every year as a teenager, and young adult. My family always thought it was a cold. After many years of being sick with sinus problems and sneezing and coughing fits, I went for allergy testing.

It turned out that I was wildly allergic to mold that grows on most evergreen trees. We always had a real Christmas tree in our home growing up. There are only a few species of evergreen trees that don’t have the mold that I’m allergic to, so if I want a real tree, and not be sick, I have to find those kinds. They’re not the ones that are usually available, so I use an artificial tree most of the time these days.

I’m also quite allergic to so many different pollens. It helps to know which ones make me the most sick. It might give your son and his coworkers peace of mind to know that he has allergies to something seasonal.

Can he obtain TESSALON PERLES? AS It sounds more like Bronchitis. This medication is used to treat coughs caused by the common cold and other breathing problems (e.g., pneumonia, bronchitis, emphysema, asthma). It works by reducing the reflex in the lungs that causes the urge to cough.

I had a coworker who was allergic to mold that tended to grow inside her car on the mats in the winter.

I do too. I have allergies, which makes my sinuses drain. At night they drain down the back of my throat and then I wind up coughing it up all the next morning. Drives me crazy for a few weeks every spring.

Same with my 16 y.o. son, twice a year, spring and fall. About a week or two with cough and congestion. Zyrtec seems to help a little.
