If you have ever watched a single sketch from "The Carol Burnett Show," you know that its the crown jewel of sketch comedy.
The silliness, the quick wit, and the chemistry of the four principals in the show Carol Burnett, Tim Conway, Vicki Lawrence, and Harvey Korman that ran for 11 seasons may never be matched again.
Today were revisiting a sketch that is hilariously relevant to the state of panic buying and hoarding that the state of Utah (among others) has found itself in during the COVID-19 breakout.
You guessed it: We will never seem to get away from talking about, worrying about, and now rationing toilet paper.
Yesterday's Have You Seen This?
Have You Seen This? Dads genius way to get alone time during lockdown Home, which includes your kids, is where the heart is. Its a sweet sentiment, but were all fairly sure that whoever came up with that phrase didnt pen it during quarantine. Its clear that when the sketch was made, it was referring to toilet paper commercials that blamed "mom" for making poor choices when buying toilet paper. But in todays landscape, it takes on a whole new meaning.
Even though this sketch was made at least 40 years ago, the jokes remain hilarious because the message remains the same: Dont take your toilet paper for granted its the one single thing that stands between a life of meaning and a life of loss and chaos.
Without further ado, please behold the immortal Carol Burnett in the Toilet Tissue sketch.
It was in response to TP commercials targeted at “Moms” saying they should buy the softest for their family. Notice everyone calls her “Mom!”
Reruns of Carol Burnett show are on one of the oldie stations every night at 11pm. Loved the show when I was a kid, enjoy it even more now.
Her crew was a once-in-a-lifetime comedy tour de force. Like the Seinfeld cast, it just worked perfectly.
Weeknights on MeTV.
Best show ever.
That cast was so funny they cracked each other up. So many times you’d see them break character melting down in hysterics, which made everything even funnier.
I haven’t seen any articles, but someone had stated yesterday that toilet paper production (now done mostly in Mexico, thanks to the EPA and its water quality regulations), is not quite normal, as in our supply is less than normal - so I agree with the headline, don’t take toilet paper for granted. At least not yet.
I hadn’t seen that.
ROFL! Thanks!
TP humor!
ALERT!!!
Today, for thew FIRST time since this “thing” we are going through...
BOTH TOILET PAPER AND PAPER TOWELS have been restocked here in LA.
It’s been there since the stores opened at 6AM ... still there now.
