In other words, if and when the governors order the confiscation of private weapons, we just hand them over because the police are “only following orders” of governing authorities? What about some of these recent proclamations that government should remove infected persons from our homes, but do so in a “safe and dignified manner”? That didn’t work so well for the Jews in WWII, numerous ethnicities in Soviet Russia, the nationalist Chinese and so on, all of which were “governing authorities.”

Nah, don’t think so.

I happen to believe that God had a lot to do with the creation of the United States and he expects us to honor and maintain the gift of freedom. We haven’t done so well in that regard.

I agree with you. Sanctimoniously quoting Romans every time someone mentions a law they don’t like isn’t the idea. Abortion is legal too.

Constitutionally, I believe the governors who by edict shut down the free exercise of religion and created laws with fines and jail are on very thin ice. I hope there will be many legal challenges after the dust settles.

At the same time, the few churches who do continue to meet are led by stupid people who don’t have their members safety in mind. I suspect they may face some legal issues too if there is an outbreak in their church.

I certainly miss my church friends but with today’s technology, while it’s not nearly the same, it’s better than it ever was.

We had a men’s Bible study by Zoom yesterday. We spent the first 45 minutes just chatting and catching up with the guys.

Jesus put down His guns which are way bigger than yours or mine and how did it work out for Him, ask yourself that. I won’t debate whether “you” should or shouldn’t, but be careful with painting with such a broad brush because it seems to always end up with utter failure for the one who did the painting. If you are following the guidance of the Holy Spirit you will do what’s right every time, but ultimately “you” not us will decide what to do when the time comes.

"Render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s; and to God, the things that are God’s,"

I'm not making that call for you, it's up to you.
