Definitions: Antigen = the COVID-19 virus Antibody = immune cells to the COVID-19 virus
We have antigen tests. We will have more antigen tests in the future. When the antibody tests go mainstream people will get tested for both.
Antigen negative, antibody negative = You haven't yet contracted COVID-19, although you could be incubating a case of COVID-19.
Antigen positive, antibody negative = You have a case of COVID-19 which you haven't begun to fight off.
Antigen positive, antibody positive = You have a case of COVID-19 which you are fighting off
Antigen negative, antibody positive = You've had a case of COVID-19 and can be cleared to go back to work
It's one of those times when nature might reward the jerks who flout the rules by exposing everyone else.
Ding ding ding
Unfortunately
I think 5-10 million Americans already have the virus. If I’m wrong, it may be way more than that.
"We anticipate that a commercially ready research-use-only (RUO) product in Europe will be available as early as next week, said Franz Walt, Chief Executive Officer of Quotient."
Full Disclosure: Yes, I own some, but that's not the point.
Question 1: Will this be legislated into Law?
Question 2: Will citizens continue to allow the Government to pick winners and losers?
Antibody testing shows herd immunity is on the way.
there’s a published, but not peer-reviewed study that put the figure as high as 40 million.
There were a very large number of “flu” cases this Feb-March, that tested negative for the flu, but since there was no COVID test available, none was given.
Compared to a normal year, those numbers were huge, and given the timing, it’s reasonable to suspect that a ton of people may have had COVID-19 but had either the relatively mild flu-like symptoms, or in as many as half the cases, NO symptoms at all.
This is why getting the antibody testing to a robust scale is so important. There may be tens of millions of people who are sheltering at home who are in fact fully immune to the disease, having had it already.
They also are not contagious to others. They would be the key to restarting the economy.
40 million can go out and work. What about other 290 million? They would get infected with COVID-19 on purpose in order to acquire antibodies they need in order to work again.
A key point is that the goal of this entire thing has been to keep the number of cases needing hospitalization from exceeding hospital capacity and crashing the system.
Based on the numbers out of New York, our hottest hot spot, it’s MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!
Keeping people from catching it is not realistic. Our goal should be to protect the most vulnerable and react quickly to those who do need treatment.
Antibody testing 350 million people is likewise not a realistic goal.
Robust scale, I agree with that.
Test all 350 million as some are floating out there, not gonna happen.
We might have that many tests available by the time COVID-87 comes along.
They have to do enough testing to get a good statistical sample of how much immunity already exists in the general population. Likely this is also going to confirm that their early death curve models were crap.

And they would have to be tested at the relative same time for it to mean anything. So no, won't happen.
But I don't understand why a vigorous push hasn't been going on for weeks now to have these simple, rapid Abbott labs machines made by every conceivable company in the country.
We heard press conference after press conference with CEO’s talking about how they were transforming their companies to make ventilator's. Well it turns out we don't even need the ventilators.
BUT, let's say I own shopping malls, a sports franchise, gym franchise's, restaurant, etc. Why aren't there a ready amount of these machines out there if I have the money to buy them and make entry into my private business based on you testing negative. I would have the most popular mall, gym, restaurant, etc. anywhere around and this virus would rapidly disappear.
President Trump has always been one to think out of the box. I am disappointed that he has not put a similar plan into effect.
The other step is they want readily available virus testing (antigen) on demand. If you test negative for the virus, OR positive for the antiBODY, then you can circulate.
There will be more breakouts. That’s why they want the “contact tracing” to be in place, too. That’s scary from a civil liberties perspective, I know, but makes sense from a virus perspective.
Whatever decisions are made, Big Media already has the scripts to be read by their faithful telling us they were the wrong ones.
Many here will also be dissatisfied.
The REAL goal: you will not be able to work, or buy or sell if you don’t have an antibody identification card.
