I need some help and I can't think of a better place to get it then my very intelligent and informed and wise Free Republic community. I have a vacation scheduled for June 5th through the 13th flying from Cincinnati to Las Vegas renting a car from Hertz and going to Zion National Park and the north rim of the Grand Canyon and then Canyonlands and Arches. I would be staying in 3 Inns. Tomorrow on the 18th I plan to call Delta and the three ends and hurts and see if any of this is actually possible to happen. I'm asking for any input from anybody and please let it be real input not comedy for sarcasm I really appreciate it. I'm actually thinking of changing the vacation if some of this doesn't work out to going to South Dakota and the Badlands and Mount Rushmore since Kristi Noem the governor of South Dakota has kept her State open. Obviously eating and staying at a motel or Inn is pretty important as is flying somewhere from Cincinnati. I could rent a car but I don't actually know if any rental car places are renting cars at this point. Again any ideas I would really appreciate it. Does anybody know if Montana is an open state? Perhaps later on in the summer maybe in August going to Glacier National Park instead. One problem with these national parks however is there run by leftist who probably have a goal to keep everything close as long as possible even if it hurts themselves. If it hurts President Trump then that goal is met. Thank you in advance.
Do NOT book a cruise.
Go to states that are SANE. Don’t give Libtard states ANY of your American dollars!
I vote for South Dakota! Plenty to do there - The Badlands are quite beautiful in their own way, and I was last at the statue of Crazy Horse when I was 20 and all there was to it was a hole blown through the mountain.
You need to take some pictures for me! It’s been 40 years and I ain’t gettin’ any younger, LOL!
Also - Wall Drug is just kitschy FUN for everyone and Mount Rushmore will take your breath away.

Zion is great. Note that you can only access the valley by shuttle bus. When I went (Spring 2018) the buses were packed and it took an hour in line to get in.
I suppose if they reopen they’ll have the ‘safe distancing’ protocols in place, whatever that means.
I was just thinking about SD, earlier, today.
Thanks for that link.
I’d like that I think.
I love tooling around in the west....if you're going to Vegas consider traveling up the Great Basin....there are actually two routes...Idaho should be open soon so go on up to Twin Falls and see the Snake canyon and then maybe go up to Stanley, which I heard is wonderful....
you can't go wrong with just driving around...
btw....Deadwood is a little town with some old timey casinos and there are caves and Mt Rushmore nearby...all in South Dakota...
yeah, Wall Drug is just...relaxing...you’ll meet “our” kind of people....
Bryce Canyon is between Zion and Canyonlands. It’s spectacular and it’s not hard to see every stop by car, so about 1/2 day. The brief hike to see Thor’s hammer is one the first stops. Inspiration Point is awesome too.
That sounds like a great trip. I hope it works out for you.
Cancel.
If you do go, consider staying at the Izaak Walton Inn, which is a reasonable driving distance from the west entrance to the park; it is a step back in time. (They have a smaller place about a mile or two up the road; the trains will wake you up at night, but I seem to remember the price of the room being very reasonable. If nothing else, have breakfast at the Inn.)
What’s a vacation?
If you go to South Dakota Als Oasis is a good spot for a meal and more.
If you order pancakes, only order one! I once ordered two, which is enough for a table of 6 they were so big!
Nestled along the Missouri River in Chamberlain and Oacoma, SD. Als Oasis has historically been the premier resting stop for travelers along Interstate 90 (I-90).
I sent off for a vacation guide.
Someday I hope to see a lot of this country.
Like S. Dakota...we’re there last June...be prepared for thunderstorms and hail.
I usually travel for work. Stopped about 2-3 weeks ago.
The hotels/motels will be happy to have your business. Eating is a different problem. Subway sandwiches and McDonalds in your room gets tiresome after a while.
Thumbs up to Bryce
South Dakota. Reward good government!
Hey everybody! How about a staycation?!
