The only things I’ve gotten planted so far are chard, kale, lettuces, arugula, red onions, red cabbage AND all of those roses I ordered for the ‘Rose Garden’ around the greenhouse.
I have both types of Orioles now (Baltimore and Orchard) and the Red Breasted Grosbeak are also here. Beau spotted a Hummingbird, and while the feeder is up, I haven’t seen them, yet. :(
Today is a Day Trip OFF the farm - YAY! We’re heading West to Platteville, which is about an hour or so away, to hit the Menard’s (like Home Depot) for things Beau needs, BUT - I get to fill the SUV with as much bagged MULCH as she will hold, so you bet I’m going along!
I’ll be driving either there or back, so I’m pretty sure that we’ll be swerving into a few Garden Centers between here and there. ;)

Had some damping off issues in the greenhouse.
I was overwatering, doing some evening watering, and that was a bad mix for a greenhouse with a space heater in it.
Lost som San Marzano Toms, heirloom cute, and a few other starts.
Not every start of each variety so I still have a garden to plant. Will be restarting some of these varieties again.
Mostly nice weather over the past week here in Central Missouri.
Mrs. Augie and I stopped by the local nursery on Thursday. It was packed, and picked-over. I brought home 20 tomato plants and one rhubarb for the garden. Mrs. Augie picked up a few potherbs, and a couple ornamentals for her flower bed in front of the house.
It’s just a bit early to put tomatoes in the ground here, so I re-potted them into gallon containers. They should have plenty of roots out when it’s time to stick them in the dirt. I picked a spot for the rhubarb and in it went. Sowed two rows of kale, and one row each of beets, collards, carrots, chard, and radishes.
Mrs. Augie planted several varieties of squash seed, and I set up two cattle panels for her cucumber fence. Thought I might get the cuke seeds planted today, but it’s raining so that will have to wait.
Still need to buy some pepper plants. Might try to get that done after work today.
BTW, if you don’t mind missing a sea view you can find a 3 bedroom townhouse with mountain views for 350 Euros per month. That’s about 382 dollars and it’s about 10 minutes inland from me. In the winter when there aren’t travel bans Scandinavians, Europe’s version of Canadians, rent the seafront apartments for about 400 Euros per month but those same apartments can go for 400 Euros per day in the summer. Cost of living is low, insurance is a bargain compared to the USA. If you want to be a big spender we know an American family who rents a penthouse right across from the beach for 900 Euros per month but that is a yearly contract. You can always send me a PM if you want information on my lifestyle. And of course if any FReepers are ever in the area there is always a room at the inn :)

I know Diana is in line already but will you adopt me too?? I am going to have to look into Spain I am stuck in the US until my mom passes she is 91 and I am the only child I REFUSE to put her in assisted living! I an in CA. I was going to relocate to Idaho when she passed BUT I could definitely live in Spain!!

If you’re cooped up in the house, unplugged and busy it’s very easy to forget what day it is!

I had to restart too. We had an unusually warm spell in February so I started a bunch of stuff in the garage on top of the freezer then it got really cold again.
Lost all of it but a few peppers. Started over again on 4/21 and things are much better now!
I have to resist the urge to start things too early. I’ve done that a bunch of times.

Heads up...cold shot heading for the southeast. Tons of plants being sold at Lowe’s today...Lowe’s may be selling tons of the SAME ones later next week.
Ugh....translated my Cherokee Purple toms into a garden bed....for whatever reason the atarts would not pop out with the soil attached.
All the tap roots were intact and I got them planted with the taproot intact and at length but I may lose half or more of them...fingers crossed.
Sounds good, but it seems you are closer to N. Carolina than MA, where the low for this coming Sunday is 34 degrees. Yet that is abnormal due to the Jet Stream, acting like is it sppsd to in Jan. No tomatoes in till maybe 2 more weeks.

The one good thing about those little Jiffy pellets is that’s never an issue. It would probably be way too expensive for someone with a sizable operation but for just edging a suburban backyard I love it. I popped them I to the ground after digging holes with a bulb planter.
Dreary day to day—Rained almost the whole time. However, a visit to the green house was nearly as good as being outdoors.
Don’t know why, but the outdoors is always a boost for good mood and energy.
These were seeds harvested from store bough Cherokee Puples last year.. I have more....luckily.
North Carolina gets way colder than where I live now. We lived in Georgia, near Atlanta, and we would still get freezing temps and even some snow in the winters. You would have to get about 3 hours further down towards Florida before the weather starts matching what it is here. I’ve rarely even put on a jacket in 4 years.
I also lived in New Hampshire for 14 years. My daughter was born in Lawrence, MA and I worked in North Andover. NH is where I actually got started growing hot peppers just for the challenge if it. I really enjoyed it up there but I also moved away before NH turned from one of the most Conservative states in the country into the mess it is now.
