Polar vortex to unleash winterlike cold across eastern half of nation, with snow in the Northeast
Washington Post ^ | May 7, 2020 | Matthew Cappucci

Let us preface this with “yes, really.”

After remaining well-behaved all winter, the mischievous polar vortex is set to thrust a lobe of frigid, wintry air south over the eastern United States, bringing snow to places in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic and chilly temperatures from the Upper Midwest to New England.

Those names aren’t scary enough. They should call it a Saber Toothed Polar Vortex or something more ominous. How can you get people to run in fear with Bob or Alberto?

The problem is that many of the fruit trees are in flower. Care to guess what’s going to happen if they get frozen?

It’s the wind turbines.

They are changing airflow all over the Northern Hemisphere and precipitating a new Ice Age.

Never mind all the dead birds. Between getting fried flying over solar panels in the desert and getting chopped up by the wind turbines, it will be Silent Spring for real.

It’s not nice to fool Mother Nature.

Yet the NOAA forecast:

off01_temp[1]:

And see Near- or above-average temperatures are anticipated from the Southwest to the Northeast and South .

The average temperature in Boston from April 1 through April 29 was 44.5 degrees, making this April the 19th coldest on record...“We haven’t gotten into any real warm spells,” Dunham said. “We’ve had a lot of rain and clouds for the month." This used to be reported as a cold front coming down from Canada.

Actually here in the NE, is is part of a trend of below average temps continuing from April. See above post. Lord have mercy.

Honestly. The inability of people being able to deal with nature being what it is is frightening.

Funny how you don’t hear the mainstream going on about the cold April and May like they did over the hot February and March. The old timers around here told me years ago “the weather always evens out”. As the years pass I have found that to be very sage advice indeed.

Perhaps. The NOAA does not provide its past long range forecasts that shows how well they did, and the 3 months ones never seem to predict lower than average temps:

NOAA+March_20-April_21_LRF

In while they usually seem to be overall correct, sometimes years they are clearly off in predicting above normal temps, , as with this past April:

April2020_precip_temp_outlook_620[1]

Actual: regionaltavgrank-202004[1]

Exactly!

Jokes aside, with there already being problems in the food chain, I don’t want this.

That, any my peach trees are flowering for the first time this year. I’ll do what I can to protect them, but if they get hurt because of Mother Nature’s fit of pique...

I am loving this cooler weather. It has extended that late winter mid 80s weather here on the west coast of southern Florida. The beaches are now deserted of Canadians and spring breakers. We have the clear cool golf waters to ourselves.
