Haha! The last time the “Social Security Administration” threatened to arrest me, I told them, “Come down here and arrest me. I’ve got more time than money.”

That’s my recommendation, just forget about it.

I got a call from "Mary" earlier today, promising to save me hundreds of dollars a day on car insurance! I laughed so hard and long that she hung up. LOL.

"Why is this in breaking news?"

I'm GRATEFUL this is in breaking news.

It's a subject almost everyone is interested in.....and a scam process that's been going on for a long time.

My Congressman informed me that a bill was passed in the House to drastically curtail these onerous calls....but I don't know if it has passed the Senate and has been signed yet......or if it has, it certainly isn't effective.

My scam calls come in at the rate of 3-5 almost every week day, some on weekends. I don't answer and they will always usually hang up before or when my recorder comes on. However, their incessant ringing during the day drives ya nuts.

Frankly, the creeps and criminals behind these call know every trick in the trade to outwit Congress and the FCC (which is strangely silent on this matter of importance to virtually everyone).

Perhaps the powers-that-be have just given up on how to protect us from these vultures.

Come on y’all, give Mark and Peggy a call at 806.642.4518.

It’s the moral thing to do.

LOL!! I got a text message a week or so ago, claiming to be from Citibank, that my account was frozen because of questionable activity. There was a phone number for me to call, but I assumed it was BS. I do have a Citibank card, so I went to my account online to see if there were any notices there...nothing, so I contacted them by phone to make sure that my account was still active. It was. I also gave them the number that was in the text message to call. Of course it wasn’t a Citibank number, just another scam. They thanked me for contacting them, and they were sending the number to their fraud department to handle. Having worked in Corrections for 25 years, I don’t trust anything, and always question everything that is sent to me.

I don’t answer any calls unless they are people in my contact list. I don’t have Citibank, or any of my other card companies there. The only financial institute I have in my contacts is the regional bank I do business with. Everyone else is ignored on both my cell phone, and my landline, and when anyone does call who isn’t in my contacts, I do a search online for the number, and if they’re not a legitimate number, I block them...all of them. If a call was from any credible source, they’d leave a voice mail. I get a lot of robocalls calls on both my home phone and cell phone. I turned the ringer off on my landline a long time ago, because that’s about the only calls I get on it these days.

I rarely answer these calls and talk with these people but I recently did answer one of those “car warranty” calls and there was a real person on the line.

She told me she needed to verify my car’s make and model. I said “OK.” Then she said that she needed me to tell her what the make and model was. I said well, tell me what you’ve got and I’ll tell me if you are correct.” Then she spouted some nonsense about “privacy laws” which as far as I know don’t cover things like the make and model of your vehicle. She asked me again to “verify” the make and model and I said, reasonably I thought, “I can’t verify it if you can’t tell me what you have.” She hung up.

I didn’t get far enough to find out what she’d say if she actually did discover the make and model of my car.

Let’s just say it would be of legal age to drink alcohol and buy cigarettes!

I have a land line and no caller ID. When I pick the phone up and it takes 2 or 3 seconds for the person on the other end to speak I know what it is and just put the phone down on the table and let them talk to the wood until they realize no one is listening. I do the same for any sort of solicitation or “warning” calls.

I get 3 calls and 3-4 texts per day on my cell phone (dumb phone). Somebody signed me up. I leave my cell phone off and just check it end of the day day. We still have a land line and get 3-4 calls a day on it. We don’t answer that phone anymore either, just check the answering machine at the end of the day.

I used to leave my cell phone on through all of it in case my grandson wanted something. He kept loosing his phone in the pasture, swamp or river. His parents stopped giving him a phone. I can leave my phone off now.

I keep getting calls & postcards to ‘Extend’ my warranty on my 1 ton Chevy truck...

I bought that truck 34 years go with over 90,000 miles on it from a private party. NO warranty.

Got another call TODAY about extending my warranty..new
I asked the ‘lady’ how old the vehicle had to be & how many miles were the limit?

She acted like she didn’t understand me.

Then I told her my vehicles have 348,000 & 218,000 respectively and are almost 45 & 41 years old. She hung up.

I use my phone for my business, but have blocked many numbers, based on their behavior.

My (immigrant) wife once was called at home and the guy said: “First I need to verify your Social Security Number”

She said: “Why it’s 765...

I think I made the 20 feet across the living room in one leap, and that was the end of that phone call.

Obviously the right answer is to thank them for the information, tell them that you have the number already and that you’ll call back.
