“Ian Desmond”
Who??
Next comes his Tell-All Book, “Bad Stuff ‘Bout The Rockies”
Ive noticed how the personalities on ESPN never cast a disparaging word towards black quarterbacks, while its open season on white quarterbacks not named Brady.
Russell Wilson, Jameis Winston, Colin Kaepernick, Senquez Goldon, and Golden Tate are among black players who could have gone pro baseball.
Hum, wonder if there is a higher percentage of Hispanic players. Don't know because I don't follow the sport much these days. Speaking of ownership groups, is he saying if a group of black entrepreneurs showed up with boat loads of cash, some owner would not sell to them?? Doubt that. So either play ball or go find something else to do.
I forget her name — she recently reappeared with some more vitriol — but a former ESPN reporter who was hot and bothered a few years ago by the elevation of Tim Tebow among the great college football players of all time. She mentioned his skin color as a reason for his advancement. Then she listed the all-time best college football athletes in her mind and guess what was missing: one white man. None. In the history of the sport at any position. Roger Staubach alone was a better athlete — and person — who should have been mentioned.
I suspect he will be happy when the MLB attains the level of black participation in the NBA (@ 80%) and NFL (@ 75%).
Systemic racism much??
Around 30% of MLB players are Hispanic.
I read of a black reporter mention that about horse racing the other day: the under representation of black jockeys. He never mentioned the “over representation” of a certain group. Who cares?! If they are good, they are good. But again, like feminists, this black movement claims they want equality but they really want control.
So go play basketball where you will feel more at home...
They make racial choices but want to deny us ours especially when it comes to speech
Never heard of this loser so good riddance
Sounds like this guy has never heard of Wally Pipp.
Yeah, like inner city youth programs are full to the gills with baseball players.
Like I’d be upset if there was only Golf this season, NOT.
Hes also bisexual so why didnt Complainer include that diversity?
.250 hitter. Release him , as easy as that. Lots of young guys ready to play.
Or a real American hero like Ted Williams. Imagine if this individual had to go fight for his country?!
Hes had a 10 year career in MLB. Average outfielder, which is pretty good given MLB standards.
I suspect the real story here as follows:
Desmond had decided that he was not going to play this season, either because of a severe case of butthurt over the owners imposing a schedule and not renegotiating with the union, or over COVID fears, most likely those of his wife.
(I have a friend whose nephew is a bench utility player in MLB and he says lots of these guys are married to COVID Karens)
So since he had made this decision anyway he is opting to use it to burnish his credentials as a Social Justice Warrior.
Or he wants to be a manager and is trying to force MLB down the NFL path of reserving those jobs for minorities.
Interesting how in any discussion of great Hispanic ballplayers Ted Williams is never mentioned (his mother came from Mexico)
