A Los Angeles Police Department officer was shot by a fellow officer in Hollywood Wednesday afternoon while responding to a suicidal man who was allegedly armed with scissors, Chief Michel Moore said.
The incident began about 2 p.m. in a residence along the 1110 block of Wilton Place when police responded to a call about a man threatening suicide with kitchen scissors.
The 33-year-old man had a Rottweiler dog with him when officers arrived, and his wife, mother-in-law and three small children were inside the home, Moore said.
During an encounter, a female officer was struck by gunfire in the wrist, but it is unclear what led to the shooting.
The dog was injured during the incident, but it is unclear if it suffered a puncture wound from the scissors or gunshot wounds. It was taken to veterinary hospital for treatment.
The man and his family were not injured during the incident. He was taken into custody for an evaluation.

Friendly fire... isn’t.
Mistakes happen, but this just sounds like pure stupidity.
“So, this guy wanted to kill himself, see? So I thought I’d help him out, you know? But I ended up hitting my buddy instead.”
Since LAPD SOP is to shoot the dog first, we need a picture of the female officer to determine whether the shooter screwed up, or simply managed to shoot two dogs.
LAPD Keystone Kops manage to escalate a guy with scissors into a police shooting with unjustifiable injuries.
I knew a woman who was an LAPD sergeant. Went on to make captain.
Great gal, and one of the few attractive officers on the force.
Is friendly fire = she shot herself accidentally while pulling her weapon?
Covid 19 will get ya one way or another.
Ummm, shot at the dog hit the b!tch?
We’re bad people, you and I...
