Joe Biden was against helping Vietnam refugees
Donald Rumsfeld | 7/4/2019 | multiple

Long story with a noteworthy ending... > > Earlier this week, I finished reading Donald Rumsfeld’s wonderful biography of Gerald Ford, titled ”When the Center Held.” It was written in 2018. The book clearly articulates that President Ford was a thoroughly good man, a special American, and a greatly underrated President. HOWEVER, there was a story in the book that was startling. > > In 1975, President Ford was left to manage the difficult ending of the Vietnam War. As North Vietnam seized on the opportunity to test American resolve following President Nixon’s resignation, President Ford went to Congress to ask for a relief package to push back on the North Vietnamese to allow American personnel and our allies to evacuate. However, there was one US Senator who opposed any such support. The result was the embarrassing and hurried evacuation from the roof of the American embassy in Saigon. This senator reviled in the embarrassment and did everything he could to leverage it politically against Ford. > > Despite the efforts of this U.S .Senator--President Ford managed to rescue 1,500 South Vietnamese allies prior to the country’s fall. Had President Ford not acted quickly, these people would have been targeted and slaughtered for their support for America. Saving them was a moral obligation. > > When they arrived in America, President Ford asked Congress for a package to assist these refugees integrate into American society. But that troublesome US Senator showed up again and torpedoed any support for these shell shocked refugees. Instead, President Ford had to recruit Christian organizations to offer assistance on a voluntary basis. As he did so, the aforementioned Senator belittled those efforts. > > What kind of person would oppose President Ford’s tireless work to do the right and humanitarian thing? Who would want to play politics with the well-being of innocent people who stood by America in the tragic Vietnam War? > > That US Senator? Joe Biden. > > Donald Trump isn't a saint and I've had my issues with him. But the gushing and revisionist history over Joe Biden and his record is nauseating. > >

The Washington Times wrote this drivel?

to revile, transitive verb: criticize in an abusive or angrily insulting manner.

Real commies hate the South Vietnamese refugees. I knew a guy years ago that I found out later was a leftist. He hated the South Vietnamese. That’s how I figured out that he was active in leftist causes. He was a contractor that I had dealings with and over the years I’ve been able to sense who’s a closet commie. There’s quite a few out there.

Irony of ironies, there were many Roman Catholic Vietnamese, owing to the long French influence on the area.

I was a second lieutenant of Marines based in Kaneohe Hawaii when I was called back to my unit for what was to be the withdrawal operation in Vietnam in 1975. The plan was specifically to hold the perimeter around Saigon until the US had brought ships to evacuate as many as 2 million people who had supported us and our efforts to keep them free and bring them here for a new life. I was party to the classified briefings and I still have the maps.

As we prepared to mount out, my own orders were changed to independently lead a Naval Gunfire Spot Team in Vung Tau but when my team and I got to Guam, the orders were changed again to leading an antitank team at a sports stadium northeast of Saigon to be part of the effort to stop the North Vietnamese tank columns.

As our aircraft approached Tan Son Nhut, the base came under sustained rocket fire and we were returned to Guam. We were put aboard ship and we ended up sailing in circles off Vietnam, watching the end come and far fewer people be evacuated.

I was, and am deeply ashamed for our country and our failure to protect our friends.

That was the Democrats who did that, the same Democrats we have fought our choice as President for the last four years.

Biden helps the Russian and Chinese communists. Muslim dictators as well. Not Americans or anyone else that want to be free.
