I’ve seen some “Joe & son” messages on other forums, not sure on their authenticity BUT if true, he has a disturbing relationship with Joe. He’s considered a complete f***-up. I could see there being nasty animosity, especially if Joe requires Hunter to launder money to him.
Depression, drug abuse, etc., are all inevitable results of such a dysfunctional family.
...it would also fall at the feet of Joe Biden. It would make him one disturbingly horrible human being.
In his drug fog, he probably thought he was in a pawn shop and, forgetting the laptop, stormed out when the guy wouldn’t give him money for it.
He was told the computer could not be fixed and he assumed that meant they were gone. He didn’t know that the hard drive could be recovered.

Hunter may have been in the game for over 2 decades, but his cognitive abilities are probably not what they once were. Heavy drug use over that period would take its toll. Clouded judgment and even as one other mentioned... blackouts.

So he waits until Joe's been a private citizen for 2 years and then drops off the laptop?
The plaintiff’s attorney was probably sniffing around Hunter’s world—some attorneys are willing to hire private detectives to do some serious digging—so Hunter would have wanted to hide his financial data any way he could.

Hunter in a Drunken, drug addled stupor, with resentment-could have been on purpose in an addled state, which he didn’t remember when he sobered up—if he ever sobered up. spit.
The two theories of this are not mutually exclusive. Just my 2 cents which is worth about 98% less than it used to be-so almost zero.

What was wrong with the laptop? Was there chinese malware embedded on it to record incriminating information for blackmail or other purposes? Was it locked by extortion malware when Hunter was viewing porn sites?
I thinks it’s a simple a drugged out, life in a blur, entitled and protected elitist never expecting any comeuppance.
Right answer. I suspect he never gave the laptop a second thought if he even remembered where he left it which is not likely. No sane man would bring this laptop to a local computer man. Hunter was not sane then and I suspect not now. I knew a few back in the 70s that blew their minds out on meth. Even when they got clean their minds was burnt out. That is Hunter Biden today.
He simply bought himself another lap top and continued his depraved lifestyle. It would be interesting what is on those lap tops but I am sure Joe has them and destroyed them.
Joe is an evil parent. He continued to use his son as a conduit for cash to himself. If Joe truly loved his son he would have had him committed until sane and drug free. Joe probably loves his son but not like a real parent.
