General question: I cut the cord with Facebook. Is there any other website which allows you to hook up your “friends”. Parler seems more like Twitter. MeWe doesn’t appear to allow invitations to friends to join so that you can see their posts, join general discussions and respond to them. Of course, Free Republic is in a league of its own but, is there a non-Maoist/Marxist equivalent to Facebook anyone can recommend?
That one I haven’t found a good replacement for. Gab is ok but also more like twitter. I’ve kept my facebook account bland because it’s how I keep in touch with family and hobby sites.
I get questions where I specifically say I’ll respond in email because I don’t want facebook canning my account.
This accomplishes the same thing that Facebook does for most people.
Clicking Customize allows you to uncheck Post, Comment/Chat and Invite Others. MeWe has come a long way in the past year. About the only fb thing they don't have is games. (and ads and the selling of your data)
Parler is my new twitter and MeWe my new facebook. Neither are as active as the originals and I haven't been able to bring anyone from fb but I rarely go on fb anyway. Every month or three I'll check to see if anyone died, got married, had a baby etc. Extended family has the ability to message me if something major happens and I have my notification set so that I'll get an email. Most of them are silly libs anyway that change their profile pic to a rainbow on gay day.
I believe Parler will be getting busier soon. Mark Levin announced this morning that he'll be posting some things to Parler only so I think he'll be making a complete switch over time. Maria Bartiromo, after getting twitter content warnings yesterday, said she'll be quitting twitter soon and moving to Parler.
