Years ago, When I was a student in the Irish Guard, I was in the bathroom at Notre Dame stadium in my Irish Guard uniform/kilt.
It was halftime and Lindsay Nelson and Paul Hornung walked in while I was using one of our famous ND Stadium troughs to take a wizz. Hornung looked over at Nelson and said, that my plaid kilt was way better than any loud sport coat of yours. We all had a good laugh and whenever people tell me they met this movie star or that politician, I always tell them I once took a piss between Paul Hornung and Lindsay Nelson.

Great story. The Indianapolis speedway still has a few of the legendary troughs, although they’re nicely formed stainless steel now, not like the old sections of 6 inch roof guttering.
I have great memories of Lindsay Nelson as the TV voice of the NY Mets on WOR.
