I have been getting on-screen reminders lately that Flash Player support will end on December 31st 2020. Without getting too technical, can some kind FReepers tell me what, if anything, I need to install in order to do what Flash Player once did?

I understand that even in it's heyday, Flash Player was prone to security and stability issues. I have un-installed it, and just want to know what changes, if any, I need to make going forward.
For info purposes, this old laptop is on Windows 8.1, and I browse with Firefox (and occasionally Internet Explorer). Thanks in advance for your help.

I got an Adobe Uninstall Notice this morning, and I got rid of it. I used CCleaner to get rid of the debris. What did we ever need it for, anyway?

HTML 5 is suppose to be the replacement for Flash if I recall it correctly — no need for you to do anything on your end as it’s up to the developers to do the coding.

Unless you make a habit of playing flash games, or viewing flash content, you don’t need to do anything. Just remove it.
If you do consume flash content and want to continue ... it’s at your own risk, more so than it has been for years IMO.

And good riddance to Adobe Flash.

Re: Adobe Flash Player end of life question
Thank you for asking.
It is important to see Adobe Flash Player in healthy context with the course of your experiences, your achievements, and with your commitment and relationships. By this I mean friends, family, and work.
Sometimes life is about saying goodbye, and that is true of many things. A pet, perhaps. A loved one - or, in this case, Adobe Flash Player.
See your life as an arc, if you can, which may or may not correlate with that of Adobe Flash Player. It may leave you, yes, but do not tie your own happiness or sense of fulfillment to Adobe Flash Player.
As you gaze, as we all do, at the proverbial sunset, try to disassociate yourself from earthly and material things - even, when it is possible - Adobe Flash Player.
I hope I have been able to help.

Thanks for those links. My wife sometimes plays a few games on POGO, and in the past would occasionally see a message like "Your version of Flash Player is not up to date". If they haven't changed, then maybe that BlueMaxima Flashpoint that was mentioned in one of your links might be useful.

I don’t know about the OP, but I’m certainly feeling better now.

Havent used flash in 10 years or so. HTML5 does everything you need and support for it is built into every browser.
Am astonished that anyone is still using it, quite frankly.
To: deoetdoctrinae
None. Good riddance to Flash.

you need to get rid of CCleaner, microsoft has banned it;very problematic and compromised. Look it up.

I agree. If you step in a pile of fresh dog poop, it would still be better than CCleaner.
