An Alaska Airlines jetliner hit a brown bear while landing early on Saturday evening, killing the animal and causing damage to the plane, officials said.
None of the passengers or crew members were injured in the accident
The Boeing 737-700 killed the brown bear sow, but a cub thought to be about two years old was uninjured, Alaska transportation spokesman Sam Dapcevich said.
The plane landed after dark and crews followed normal procedures for runway checks.

If only they had a bear spray port on the wings.
Hope the aircraft, pilot, and passengers are okay.
Is it legal to hunt bear with Boeing jet aircraft?
Wow! 737! ...Well...Glad the landing was otherwise safely made.
You need a special license.
Poor bear.
No I’m not an activist but it’s a lousy way to go!!
The deer was in hurry to catch a plane.

The CDC can chalk up another COVID 19 death.
I don’t have to be able to outrun the plane...

A little more detail here:
Apparently AS66 hit and killed a bear on the runway during landing in Yakutat Saturday 14 NOV. Photo attached. Looks like N615AS.
Looks like flight 107 added a stop and picked up pax.
For those not famiilar with Yakutat, they get 2 flights a day, one north to Cordova and Anchorage and one south to Juneau and Seattle. This is often considered one of the ‘milk run’ flights.

Pretty late for bears to be out but it was a poor year in Southeast for fish and berries.
Do they get to paint a bear silhouette on the nose of the plane?
737, bigger than 357
Does this incident qualify as a road kill?
5.56mm
Wow that’s going to be an insurance claim. Smashed up the engine housing pretty good.
Thankfully the bear was not a Russian Flying Bear, or the plane would have crashed.

LOL
Now we have start hearing the comparison between airplane and bear spray as the best way to defend yourself against bear attacks.

It would all come down to the caliber of the plane. The fuselage would always be hollow points. I'm thinking everything 737 and higher. For instance, if you're defending yourself with a Piper Cub, you will probably get eaten.
It’s only sheet metal!
