From Elon Musk’s twitter he said that the header tank pressure was too low on landing and this caused the engines to have too low of thrust.

But he says they got the data they need to correct the problem in a future iteration.

they achieved many major goals

they also know why the landing ultimately failed

wasnt the engines

not enough pressure in the fuel tank feeding one of the engines

watched it live

very impressive

The video makes a funny jump just before explosion - almost like cameras changed.

95% success. The stable drift-down was just too cool. Trying to get a nephew interested in space travel.

...

Yes, the flaps worked. A big accomplishment by a private company. Yet again, they did something today no government has done.

I donโ€™t think those were engine failures. This was meant to be a short test and I believe those were planned turn offs of the engines one at a time.

I thought they failed, too, but it looks now like the shutdowns were planned during ascent to control speed.

That was a tame explosion compared to the others. I think very little propellant was left.

Ya, methinks engine restart was just a tad late.

“Yet again, they did something today no government has done.”

I so hope Americans can learn, from organizations like this, that government is NOT the answer to most things.
