In the shaving world, everybody wants you to use their ‘stuff’, but it is your face that has the final say!
They last about a month if you clean and dry them.
Gillette Fusion5 Men’s Razor Handle + 2 Blade Refills

Oh my! 5 blades! I have tried a 1st gen 3 blade, but my face stopped counting at 2.
Show me the picture, partner!!
I do admire the cowboys of olde, with their moustachios, considering it was straight edge country!!
Ditto on Harry’s. Gillette changed blades on me making my current handles useless. Then they decided to virtue signal with their inane commercials. I went to Harry’s and will never go back.
Okay, I may have exaggerated a little bit.....
Amazon and expect to pay double
It's like a Man Cave but has Short Hair strewn about.
Best blade I have tried. Use Edge shaving cream and water it down a bit. Blades can last up to a month.
I ordered mine on Amazon. I would argue the stuff in a can is more expensive. I use the hard Proraso soap in the plastic bowel. It lasts me for many MONTHS. I don’t recall my canned foam lasting that long. I have tried, and liked, the Proraso cream (tube), but prefer the soap.
Gillette Adjustable Slim, (see post #25, same razor.) I’ve used it since about 1978 or so, whatever blades I can find, Personna was my favorite. Think I have about 5 packs of new blades unopened, put the razor down several years ago, let everything grow wild these days.
Hate shave cream, found out years ago just hot water only works great nowhere near as abusive to my skin, neck didn’t burn all day. I’ve always kept a full beard, shaved above it to trim, and neck all the way. Washcloth soaked hot as you can stand it, let it soak your face for a full minute or longer. Nothing else needed.
Just got a straight razor ready not long ago, not quite good enough to try yet, shaves hair off my arm but still pulls a lot. Wade & Butcher brand “Barber’s Rattler”, best as I can find, about 150 years old. Might use it to trim a few times if I can find a finishong hone. (coticule)
When are they going to STOP adding blades one by one ?!?!?! I'll fix this blade by blade game...
I'm going to make a 27 Blade Razor. I shall name it The Wall-O-Razors.™©®
It shall be Mounted on the Shower Wall and has a Grab Bar mounted above & in front of TW-O-R.™©®
It shall dispense the Shaving Cream in measured amounts from in between the 27 Fixed Blades.
Then you will take hold of the Grab Bar and Starting at the Lowest Blade Carefully place your Face at the high point of your Facial Hair and Slowly Drag Your Face Up The Wall=O-Razors™©®.
Repeat until entire Face has been Shaven or you bleed out from Severing your Carotid Artery.
new meds??? 8^)
I was really hoping this thread had something to do with switchblades.
I use a 2006 Norelco Triple Header electric shaver, with 3 new heads every 10-12mos, and my face is smooth as a baby’s butt.
Maybe part of it was the result of the Induced Coma Cocktail they had Me on for 2+ weeks when Mr. Intestine went BOOM !!!
I had some REALLY Bizarre Trips on THAT Rodeo Tour. I haven't even told Mama about a couple of the REALLY out of this world $}{!t..
And They Called Me MAD At the University. Until the Next Guy popped By. Then they considered Me to be Abbey Normal.
I’ve used several, and the razor body isn’t that different from brand to brand. Handle length is a personal preference, although I like a longer one.
The blade is the important part. I like Feather from Japan.
Do the people who buy straight razors really use them? Seems hard to believe.
I have been using a DE razor for close to ten years now. I prefer it to cartridge razors. With a mach 3 I was getting pimples regularly. With a DE razor I almost never do. Reason is because a multi blade razor actually tugs your hair out of your skin some before cutting it off. The hair then sinks down below the skin. Very smooth shave but you get ingrown hairs and pimples.
A DE razor takes some practice and experimentation to figure out what works for you, it’s not idiot proof like the multi blade razors. Once you get the hang of it though you can get a very smooth shave, no irritation, and it’s dirt cheap.
I tried wet shaving for awhile. I don’t like it. There’s a reason everyone switched to canned foam when it came out, because it was so much faster and easier. Having to build lather and clean out all your kit after every use, no thanks. I just use cheap canned foam from the grocery store. Works great, fast, easy, cheap.
For razors I experimented with edwin jagger, mercury and others. Honestly most of them are junk. They’re cheap steel that’s chrome plated. They look nice and work fine for awhile but eventually the plating will start to chip, you’ll get corrosion on the threads and stuff. I now use a solid stainless steel razor from razorock: https://www.italianbarber.com/collections/safety-razors/products/razorock-game-changer-84-p-double-edge-razor
I have bought many razors from these guys, I like this one the best, it’s fairly forgiving so I don’t get nicks often and still a very smooth shave. A stainless steel razor will last many lifetimes, and razorock is a great company. They are canadian and make all their stuff in canada. They are also really into shaving and are constantly experimenting with new stuff. Very reasonably priced too. I think I paid $50 for a solid stainless razor where other guys are selling them for $200. That’s why I bought several from them, because they were so cheap.
Razors I buy bulk from razorock or Amazon. My advice is look for a sampler pack. You just have to experiment and find what works for you. That’s my shpeel, good luck.
I used an electric razor for a few years. I had such an irritated neck.
