Lower court judges have been impeached and removed from office.

Then they run for Congress....................

This is another Pandora’s box that I feel should not be opened over politics. It’s a precedent that should not be set. If democrats get full control of the legislative and executive branches of this government, what is to stop them from pushing impeachment on all of the conservative justices, basically to get more political power and finish off their trifecta of power over the judicial branch as well?

The bar needs to be set very high, and should probably be related on corruption of actual court conduct. Example, taking bribes.

Impeached and removed. That’s the only way. For Supreme Court justices or any other federal judge.

So who do you want to impeach and why?

What are the odds that the three Trump appointees will be impeached soon after January 20th? Doesn’t matter what they did or didn’t do. To the Communists, they will always be illegitimate.

No matter that they were told rule against President Trump or we’ll pack the court. Impeachment and replacement isn’t parking the Court; merely “filling vacancies”.

Democrats would NEVER vote to remove a bad justice, and conservatives would not vote to remove a good justice.

So, I believe the answer is ultimately, “NO!”

Impeachment is very difficult for all federal judges, with the same rules as for the POTUS. A majority vote in the House, which is easy, *followed* by a trial in the senate, in which 2/3rds of the senate (67) must vote to convict (remove).

Likewise, it is quite difficult to pack the court.

It’s a high hurdle with good reason. Real answers lie with good state governments established by elections that no one pays attention to. State legislatures have plenary power over elections, and they should have been wielding that power before the fact.

Which group of powerful GOP Representatives in the House do you envision beginning impeachment against Roberts?

>>> Can a supreme court justice be removed?

Depends on the offense.

If they are guilty of a non-criminal offense (such as poor choice of airline transportation) they can be impeached through congress.

If a Justice is guilty of a criminal offense, they can be arrested and jailed like anyone else... What typically would follow of course WOULD be impeachment if the offense is grave enough.

If a Justice is guilty of TREASON, **AND** the US is under military law, then I have to wonder if they could be removed immediately and tried under military tribunal.

What the left has in common is lack of common sense, voting and reacting on emotion and some sort of weird infatuation with self identity politics.

The last is really interesting, if you can’t look between their legs and figure out what you are is mind boggling.

In the sixties, there was a movement to impeach Chief Justice Earl Warren because of his rulings in favor of Communists, criminals and atheists.

Justice Samuel Chase was impeached in the early 1800s, but was acquitted by the Senate.
Samuel Chase

The problem with impeaching anybody imo is the constitutionally undefined political parties have divided the Senate. So it’s difficult to get the 2/3 supermajority Senate vote to actually remove someone from office.

Corrections, insights welcome.

Impeach them all except for Alito and Thomas. When one state violates the constitution, all other states are prima facie harmed. Hard to believe that the Justices don’t recognize this.
