Indeed. In a functioning republic, the laws are the social contract. Specifically, the Constitution is our social contract. Every state is guaranteed a republican form of government. Meaning: the laws shall be followed.

Well, that train left the station.

No more social contract. No more compelling reason to cohere as a federation of the 50 separate states. I think we’re heading toward The Second Republic of the United States, and I think it will be a smaller country.

I believe it will be a smaller country. I believe it will be as follow...North Carolina to Texas (the old CSA) up through WV Western Pa to Eastern Oregon and Alaska...The Northeast will be another country (maybe just maybe, the Coast Guard and Sub base can be another part of thee new nation...Hawaii might be a territory.)
