Our daughter and son in law have a nanny for the past ten years, does a wonderful job and the kids adore her.

She works from 5:30 AM to noon on most days and then goes to a second job.

I do not believe she has an income like this one.

We paid our non-live in nanny here in Texas only about $52,000 a year 7 years ago. She was a blessing and an angel for our kids.

I can only imagine that you earn $175,000 as a nanny if you’re a naughty nanny.

Note that there is a linked article which covers: "The budget breakdown of two doctors earning $118,000 a year and facing $180,000 in student debt".

So ...

Med School and an $118,000 salary.
or be a Nanny and earn $175,000 with most of your living expenses paid for by your employer.

Further note that this nanny hires a private chef for herself on a regular basis.

“Brieonna Johnson knew she wanted to work with children.”

Sounds like she needed to find a man. I guess if that’s what people will pay for a nanny, good for her. These days, the skills are probably hard to find.

A long tradition in the south. They used to call the Black help ‘mammies’ instead of ‘nannies’, however.

Lot of easy ways to make money off of rich people. Our neighbor moves to SC every winter for 5 months. He has a full time house sitter. He pays her $3500 month and pays all the utilities, cable, insurance etc her food etc. Her duties are to keep the house clean, snow shoveled etc. When he moves up North she moves down to his house in SC and watches it. Her only expense is her car and health insurance.

One of Johnson’s biggest, and most unusual, expenses is the private chef she hires during her off weeks in Atlanta when she’s not eating with the family. Although it’s a luxury, it’s well worth it, she says, since she’s a “terrible cook” but wants to prioritize healthy eating.

I guess the globalists and Chamber-of-Commerce types are right. Who needs to actually make anything in America to produce wealth? We can all get rich watching each-others kids or having others cook our meals.

My wife jokes that she was the only mother on our cul de sac who didn’t have a Nanny to raise our kids.

Most families were very secretive about having nannies until the last decade. Our sons and a all most son often informed us about the nannies. The nannies often were a secret caste of people.

One woman actually developed a business of training/hiring Nannies.

One of the families was/is a good Catholic family with 6 kids including 2 sets of twins. The mother plays tennis and is involved heavily in the Catholic schools her kids go to.

An interesting one was a former marine gunny, who was a nanny for 3 boys. The family mother couldn’t handle the 3 sons. So her traveling husband hired the gunny to be a male Nanny. The two older sons are now successful as adults, and the middle one and I became friends when he became an adult. The younger one had mental developmental problems and was a physical fitness nut. He now lives with his divorced mother in a beach town and helps her to run a local gym and fitness classes.

One woman, a widow, who is our age has severe physical problems and her 3 daughters have hired two of their former nannies to watch her basically 24/7. The nannies live in the Mother’s home and share the care and also do real outside Nanny work that they share. They are like family with the mother and adult daughters.

Most of the so called “freed” mothers played tennis or golf and often were deeply involved in big time charities as fund raisers and unpaid managers.

Such a shame. Parents are the ones who should raise their children
