The speaker of the house doesn’t become VP if the president is removed.
Sorry , I stand corrected, typing too fast.My apology/
What is the order of succession?
I believe once the VP is elevated to Pres, they must select a VP. If during that transition the VP position hasn’t been filled and something happens to the VP now pres, then pelosi would be acting pres.
Pelosi would become President only if the President & VP are removed more-or-less simultaneously.
When VP Assad’s to Presidency, as in Nixon/Ford, the new president selects a new VP. Usually in the same day.

Your use of the “Succession chain” is correct in that the Speaker of the House is to be president - but only if the president and then vice-president are killed. (The Senate leader is behind the Speaker of the House, then the senior cabinet secretary (Sec of State) ....)
But those are in the “emergency leadership” chain of command. Johnson was president immediately on Kennedy’s death, even before his oath of office. But there was no technically-correct, legally-in-place way to get another VP until Humphrey was elected with Johnson in 1964, then sworn in January 65. Equally, there was no “legal” way to remove Wilson from office after his stroke/flu/brain aneurysms before the 1920 elections.
An impeachment (or resignation, or 25th Amendment replacement) is (deliberately) a slower process.
So, when Agnew resigned under democrat pressure, there was no VP until Ford was selected from the swamp. Nixon resigned, and Ford immediately was president. And there was no VP until another swamp creature was selected a few weeks later.
When Harris-Pelosi-Schumer decide Biden is in their way, or is so clearly incapacitated that he is a danger to the democrat Party’s power, they will remove Biden by the 25th process. But Pelosi does NOT automatically step up into the VP slot. She stays Speaker until the House votes her out, and the VP slot simply stays empty until (Hillary ?) is anointed.
A cynic then begins betting on when Harris is killed.
