I gots to know...what exactly did Ben Carson DO in 4 years as HUD secretary? Did he overturn ANY Odunga directive?

Did he fire ANY leftist holdover? Did he drain his own gosh darned swamp ? If not, Did Trump really make America great again? Did he accomplish ANYTHING? Or just delay the inevitable?

Dr. Carson is a fiscal conservative. He focused on the cleaning up waste and fraud in HUD.

He did not want the job.

He had no industry experience.

The HUD bureaucracy is very complex and very confusing to an outsider.

There are thousands of laws and many tens of thousands of regulations that affect their operations.

The reality is that the most powerful position at HUD (where the rubber really meets the road) is the FHA Commissioner.

The administration chose a Bush retread for that job (after the former Commissioner had gone around in the industry revolving door before becoming the Commissioner for a second time) so it was business as usual.

Lobbyists and industries regulated and or subsidized by HUD have _total_ control of the Department and have had that control for _decades_.

So--is Carson to blame?

Well, sorta, maybe.

He was in way over his head and the administration's choice for FHA Commissioner doomed him.

One simple move he could have made that would have caused chaos in the ranks--and forced _major_ change in the clogged arteries of the agency--would have been to move the HQ _far_ out of DC into the heartland--to a place like Omaha or Boise--far away from the lobbyists.

Most HQ employees would have retired (many were retirement eligible) and that would have been a good thing.
