Now, she's off to Arizona State University.
She plans to major in astronomical and planetary sciences and chemistry.
Her passion for building started as an infant with LEGOs.
Her goal is to build rovers like the one sent to Mars in the Perseverance mission.

I think what happens is that they secretly invent a time machine—and then we don’t know where (when!) they went.

Sort of oxymoronic.
Complete with the virtue signaling shirt.
I remember reading a story about HS kids graduating and going to play pro baseball vs. go to college. They go into a business where they’re competing against 25-30 year old for a job. The older players will ply them with alcohol. Lot of parents want their kids to go to college and get it out of their system.
Google Matt Bush.
I can’t believe how many people here have posted negative comments. This is a story to be celebrated. She was homeschooled.
She lives in Arizona. She’s probably using online courses and maybe mom/dad will drive her to her labs, etc
Pregnant by the end of the first year.
Oh my God. I am beginning to think some people here are racist. And I am saying that seriously. I really wonder if this was a little white girl if you would say the same thing. Geez.
Completely agree.
I have a hunch the school she's attending is close enough for mom and dad to keep an eye on her. Good for them, I agree!
“I can’t believe how many people here have posted negative comments. This is a story to be celebrated. She was homeschooled.”
I guess, but I can’t find a damn thing about her other than ASU accepted her and she is terrible at reading a statement in front of a camera. No interviews from parents, no interviews from the school, just nothing. Maybe she’s really finished up the equivalent of high school...but maybe not.
Not always but so many burn out before age 20, have a breakdown for lack of social skills.
What college freshman does? Plus she’s twelve.
Our son was just as focused at that age. He determined he wanted to work in the space program and had a singular plan toward that. He didn’t go to college early — though we discussed that possibility. He graduated valedictorian from high school, went to Purdue and spent all four years on the Dean’s List. Now he works on the Mars mission spacecraft development.
It was amazing to watch. I never witnessed anything else like it. At my age, I still don’t know what the hell I want to do. I’m like a damned pinball.
The article states nothing on her abilities.
Has she taken High school level chemistry, physics, and at least algebra, geometry and trig? How about the SAT ?? What were her scores there?
Great that she was home-schooled, but she’s not ready for the real world of young adults.
Is she, @ age 12 ready to deal with mature content, and interacting solo with young adults and their lifestyles.... Sex and Drugs and Rock and Roll ?
Doubt it.
She would be better served, at the local community college where she could be serviced (Calc, Physics, Chem, English 101, etc) more effectively until she’s ready for the big leagues of an adult program.
She must have seen “October Sky.”
Prodiginous!
That’s precisely why I have my doubts.
The article is full of nothing.
She wants to build a rover for Mars, but will major in Planetary Chemistry? How is that relevant?
She has on her “Black” hoodie like she’s proud.
Imagine a White male wearing a White Pride shirt for the news.
I’m tired of the news/media pimping any non White story that they can get their hands on.
