I’ll be the first to reply with this premise:

Why.In.The.F____ is government involved AT ALL in how a friggin’ gas can is designed, built, and sold?

SMFH....

I saved the previous gurgling spouts and use them on the new cans but also buy the little yellow vents, drill a 7/16” hole in the top/back of can and pop that vent in which removes the gurgle and lets it flow fully. Yellow Cap Guy on ebay sells the vents for the old pull out, flexible clear spout cans and caps for the gurgle type cans.

The threaded piece that holds the spout has different threads usually but the gurgle spout will fit most any can’s threaded piece.

I still have two, one gallon cans with the clear flexible spouts. Great for the chain saw and string trimmer as you can stick your thumb over the vent to throttle the fuel.

My little tractor has a fine screen filter so the gurgle effect on the gurgle type works perfect. Full flow would be too fast.

I doubt Whitmer would sign this bill but I like the idea.

I have two old and one newer gas can. When needed, I transfer from the new five gallon can to the old one gallon cans.

I go to Michigan a couple times a year and will be buying freedom cans

“Anyone who has ever used one of the newer, EPA-mandated designs . . .”

And I’ve been blaming the Red Chinese for forcing those damn things on us.

I’m with you on this. Filling up my Kubota is a total PITA, especially with a full 6 gallon can. And don’t even get me started on low volume flush toilets.

***and result in more gas spilling than older gas cans,***

Absolutely correct. I’ve found ways to modify mine.

The pointy headed urban intellectual who designed the current crop of gas cans, clearly never actually used his "invention".

These cans are defective by design. The first thing I do is get an aftermarket spout and cap. The irony is anyone using these "modern" gas cans will spill more gas and generate more fumes than the old cans ever did.

Most of these gas cans have a spring to push the valve closed. This spring is usually WAY too strong. The good news is, it’s very easy to remove.

I wonder if the army still has the ole ‘Donkey Dick’ spout for 5 gal gas cans?

While I’m thinking (no smart remarks), also, cunt caps?

And if soldiers take pogey (pussy) bait to the field?

Certainly, they must have purged politically incorrect crap out by now.

...gas cans made, sold and used only in Michigan are not subject to interstate commerce laws,...

Oops. Better check the Supreme Court in Wickard vs. Filburn (1942).

I am always looking at garage sales for old gas cans. When I find a normal gas can with an easy pouring spout, I buy it. Last fall I picked up a beautiful three gallon rust free gas can in good condition for $2.00

Score!

The EPA is a racket, always has been.

I applaud this creative legislation by Michigan lawmakers. And the bill has the side benefit of encouraging local manufacturers to meet the demand for sensible fuel containers with truly functional nozzles.

the new gas “cans” aren’t good for anything except for spilling gas everywhere when trying to fill small machines like chain saws and string trimmers ... i hoard my old ones that have the flex-spouts like they’re made from gold ..

one of my heroes ... he REALLY ought to have his own cable show ... one of his videos enabled me to change the drive belt myself on my LT155 JD lawn tractor ... it never would have occurred to me to tilt the thing over and rest the steering wheel on a chair, not to mention the video of the intricate route the belt has to take through a maze of mechanicals ...
