My dad got hit by these scumbags twice. Once it he was called about having a virus on his computer and bought over $1000 of virus removal and lifetime protection. The second time is was "Publisher's Clearinghouse" and he had to send over $3000 cash hidden in a magazine. Fortunately the USPS inspectors shut them down before his mail got there, so they returned his money and took sworn statements from him about them.

There are people who don’t believe evil exists as a natural, baked-in characteristic in man.

I get these calls all the time, allegedly from the IRS, Social Security, Master Card, Visa, car warranties, what have you. Since I am in between jobs, I waste their time as well as use the opportunity to practice my Hindi. I get some great reactions when I describe their carnal intimate relationships with livestock.

In my little contribution to the cause, when one of these scum call me, I adopt a very worried voice and give them my name (either Nigel Tufnell or Graham Chapman, esq) and my address (1060 W. Addison in Chicago or 1414 Mockingbird Lane in Transyltucky) and so on as long as I can.

I doubt that most scammers would even consider justification.

My mother was 95 and she was still getting scam phone calls but she was still sharp as a tack. Unfortunately, not all seasoned citizens are.

That’s why we younguns should look out for them. I’m 75 years and 10 months old myself But I don’t look a day over 75 and 7 months and still sharp as a brick.
