Seattle Seahawks defensive end Aldon Smith is wanted for allegedly committing second-degree battery.

An arrest warrant was issued after the NFL player reportedly choked a victim unconscious on Saturday during a confrontation inside a coffee shop in Chalmette, Louisiana, ESPN reported, citing St. Bernard Parish District Attorney Perry Nicosia.

Smith has been suspended multiple times by the NFL for drug-related offenses and personal misconduct violations. He was out of the league from 2016 to 2019 and reinstated in 2020. After a one-year deal with the Dallas Cowboys, he joined the Seahawks Thursday.

I think this article is incorrect. I think they were alcohol related charges not drugs.

From a twitter account:

Aldon Smith has had tons of legal problems including multiple DUI and drug-related, assault weapons, vandalism, and domestic violence-related charges. But the Seattle Seahawks were desperate for a pass rusher

He was bad news for years. And from zerohedge where I picked up the article:

The following year, he was suspended by the league for nine games after violating NFL personal conduct and substance policies.

In 2015 there was more trouble as Smith saw the end of his 49ers days when they released him for being arrested on hit-and-run, DUI and vandalism charges.

After joining the Oakland Raiders, Smith lasted just a month before picking up a year ban for again falling foul of substance abuse rules.

Smith was dropped by the Raiders in 2018 for being picked up on domestic violence, assault and false imprisonment charges.

How can he be labeled a star when it appears that he has not been able to stay on the field for a complete season no matter where he hangs his jersey.

Not even the 49ers could stomach this loser and cut him due to his off-the-field criminality. Surprised he is still around.

As a 49ers fan, Aldon Smith looked like the steal of the 2011 draft during his rookie season. He looked better than JJ Watt or Von Miller, racking up (IIRC) 18 sacks in his first 18 games.

It's amazing how badly he's managed to screw up since then. Multiple DUIs, a hit-and-run, domestic violence charges. And now the latest. He could have been where JJ Watt is in his career right now, finishing out a Hall of Fame career. Instead he's a wreck - thrown away every opportunity and all of his physical gifts to live like a criminal.
