And a Like or dislike button...................
All the time in the world to proofread.
What would be the fun in that?
The curmudgeons would not have one less flaw to get excited about.
:)
you can delete posts on the state boards but not the main forum.
WHY?
(and i alzo makes menny tipeing erors)
Nobody’s perfect.
Why do you want to be?
Such a feature would eliminate potential rich history such as “Stuned Beebers”
Do you hit preview and look at what you are fixing to send?
That should help you make any corrections needed. Not 100%
but it helps me a lot.
I posted a thread today about a town in Idaho with a humorous name that was loaded with history and it was pulled by the mod
WHY?
I think only the mods have that function.
Leaving it this way prevents people looking foolish replying to posts that have changed since they replied.
But then, you could always ask the Mods to change or delete your post.
I share your frustration. But there is a problem with allowing editing.
Let’s say I post a comment: “Trump was a good president.”
You respond: “That’s true.”
Oops. I made a mistake. So I edit my original post to read: “Trump was not a good president.”
Now it looks like you think that Trump was no good.
See what I mean?
Using your real name to post is a powerful incentive to proofread carefully before posting. Cheers!
Amen and amen. The functionality of this website is stuck in 1997. Seriously, how difficult would it be to add some of these features?
I would love this, especially when I type what I really mean to say, Android changes it to something else, and I don’t notice till after posting.
FreeRepublic is awesome because of its simplicity. I vote for keeping it that way.
I like to think of it as posting without a safety net, as life should be.
The ability to edit at least for a limited time would be nice. (I just corrected two typos)(make that three).
I do proofread, every time, and still sometimes mistakes do get through. I type very fast, probably over 60 words a minute, but after correcting mistakes I might get 20 words a minute. And I make plenty, even after 25 years of typing on a regular basis.
So I’d like to see the capability to edit, at least for a few minutes. As is, I have to either ignore a typo or post a correction, which eats up more bandwidth.
