If herd immunity was the goal, why didn’t we do that in the beginning? What was the point of prolonging the disease’s run and inching towards the goal?
With no lockdown, protection of vulnerable and use of known affective treatments we would have been done with this in 2 months with a much lower number of deaths.
Why did we allow this totally unscientific, deadly, politicized tyranny?
That is what I think as well. To build herd immunity, the herd needs to get some exposure to the virus. Hiding in basement builds zero immunity. Only the very old and with serious health problems should be quarantined and protected.
I was 80 last year on a cruise in February 2020. Looking back, almost all the crew was from SE Asia and ship was fully sold out. I am sure the dry cough I had for 2 weeks after disembarking and loss of smell was a covid infection. But T the time it was not in the news and I paid no attention to it. Cough went away on its own in 2 weeks.
Why?
To stop what happened in Brazil, India and to some extent Ontario Canada where the hospitals are overloaded and the doctors make decisions on who gets care and who doesn’t. Ontario might just missed having to make those horrible decisions thanks to a lock down and vaccines.
And to be frank, there have been no known treatments that work effectively when people end up in the ICU.
‘Why did we allow this totally unscientific, deadly, politicized tyranny?’
future generations will be heatedly debating that question...
