Pierce County Sheriff’s in the state of Washington are asking for its Twitter followers to take a good look at these catalytic converter thieves who hit a family’s Ford F-250, taking the emissions control device in less than 30 seconds.
A dealership in Texas lost 20 catalytic converters in a matter of minutes earlier this week
: a driver and the sawzall operator. They shimmied under the car and snatched up the part in seconds.

Maybe a low fence to keep them from under the car? Electric concertina wire, with trip flares?
Low rider with remote control. Should be fun to watch from the living room.
Most houses built in Texas do not have enough room to accommodate some of the larger pickup trucks. Why this is the case with the newer houses boggles the minds. It's F'ing Texas! Build a larger garage and opening. As such, truck owners here tend to park outside in their driveways. Good luck.
Ma Deuce and some napalm.
Airbag detonators will be more useful than catalytic converters when the fighting heats up.
Catalytic converter theft is big business in Chicago where most people have to park on the street. A two-man crew can sweep down an entire block in no time at all. What I don’t understand is why no effort is made to nail the middlemen, the scrap dealers. Same thing happens with manhole covers. When someone drives up with a trunk full of manhole covers, the buyer has to know they’re stolen.
Claymores are nice I hear.
Just tie a garden snake to the exhaust pipe.
Thief will just run away.
It used to be that thieves would hit the car dealerships and steal expensive tires and wheels. But catalytic converters are easier to take.
Here somewhere on FR...

The middlemen have cops in their pockets with bribes.
To go trade in all of our aluminum cans in Houston I had to get on the scrap metals database with my TX drivers license. They are protecting against copper thieves off AC units. My husband refuses to put cans in the recycle will not let the city have the cash

Vulcan weapon system, you could sleep well when they were near by.
Until they lit up, then hearing impaired!
LOL!

Do you say?
Downward facing on each side of the bait...
Be sure to disarm before driving.
Had someone near us have theirs taken in a minute or so. Two miscreants, hydraulic Jack, battery sawzall......gone. As for the recycle by waste management? We never got a recycle bin so........
Yeah, recycling is a bit of a boondoggle. Every now and then I read about trash haulers simply commingling the items homeowners have dutifully separated into color-coded bins. I once overheard on a CTA bus two black guys laughing and joking about their adventures breaking into homes and apartments to rip out the copper and other fittings to sell to scrap dealers. Evidently they’re pretty much all crooks.
Perhaps some enterprising guy could fabricate/install an impenetrable steel cage around the component?

Might wake the neighbors?
The little round AP mines with the clip that slid in from the side. Can’t recall the name...
Not made to kill, just turn your foot into mush.
Government officials are getting a piece of the action.
