On Tuesday, Death Valley, California, climbed to 124 degrees making it not only the hottest spot in the United States but also likely one of the hottest, if not the hottest, locations in the world.

And Wednesday, was forecast to only get hotter, with Death Valley forecast to soar to a blistering 128 degrees.

With temperatures rising to 10 to 30 degrees above average, dozens of records were demolished Tuesday across Wyoming, Utah, South Dakota, Nevada, Arizona and Southern California. Casper, Wyoming, broke its previous record high of 93 by a full 9 degrees. Many other Western cities saw similar, even more extreme events: Billings, Montana, shattered its old record by 10 degrees (new record: 108), and Chula Vista, California, smashed its record by a whopping 13 whole degrees (new record: 89).

All-time record temperatures were tied on Tuesday in Billings at 108 degrees, Salt Lake City at 107 and Cheyenne, Wyoming, ...

for the record, here at the ranch, it was 118 on the mountain top yesterday, and 121 today.

In general, all critters need to be inside or in shade in a cool place with plenty of water. That water is going to evaporate quicker than you think so make sure to check it. Rabbits, birds and squirrels will be looking for moisture too, said after watching a jackrabbit take a long drink from a bird bath adjacent to a retaining wall

Here in the Seattle area we could use some of that heat. The last two summers were late to arrive and quick to leave. This year appears to be more of the same with mostly rain and a few days of sun.

OK. The US is hotter than the Sahara, Arabian Desert or Mesopotamia. Do we need any other proof that NOAA is juicing the data?

might be proof that China is messing with the weather, tho. They’re bigtime into questionable weather-regulating experiments, even when it backfires on them. All I know is, it was indeed, 121 on my super-duper home weather station located near Steele Peak, socal

U.S. likely claims hottest place on Earth.

Death Valley, CA already holds the world record for the hottest recorded temperature at 134.1. So it's already the "hottest place on earth". Gee, I wonder why they call it "Death Valley"? Been there when it was over 125. Not a good time to go off roading there. Stay in the shade and keep hydrated.

Hmm, so it’s hot in a desert with the sun almost overhead. That is unexpected.

It was 65° here in SE Michigan. So, no “climate change” here.

I’m traveling to northern Minnesota. In Billings yesterday and it was 106 degrees! The last time I was in Billings (early October last year) it snowed 20 inches in a day!

I see on Monday in northern Minnesota it will have a low of 38 degrees!

It’s weather!

(But - I’ll take a brisk morning over trying to sleep in 80+ heat!)

We’ve had an unusually cool and wet spring here in East Texas. It’s been mid-90’s here this last week though. Not that unusual. Forecast is sunny and only 90 today though.

***Death Valley forecast to soar to a blistering 128 degrees. ***

Nothing new. I remember fifty years or so ago when Death Valley was closed due to the heat.

You folks don’t know what heat is.

Here on The Jersey Shore it’ll be 95 degrees soon with humidity at 40 or 50% or higher.

It’s the kind of heat that’s lethal.
