Liberals don't seem to be able to grasp that truth.
Some time ago I read where a lawmaker wanted a law that says WNBA players must make as much as NBA players.
She gets millions per movie. Why does she need more? What value does she bring to society that justifies even the amount she already gets? It’s not like she’s a real superhero saving lives. And there are tons of people who could do what she does. You could replace her with someone else and the movie would still turn out just fine. Cut her pay, divide it up, and give it to all the lesser paid people who worked on the movie.
That’s the standard left argument about rich people in general, right? And she’s a leftie, so…
Actresses complain about how few roles there are and how little they make. It gives them something to talk about, something they don’t have to think about much. And the reporters who interview them are responsive, because it saves them from having to think of other questions to ask. They are mostly urban women with similar complaints about their lives. In the end you have something that looks like a meaningful interaction, but is just empty filler — something that we’ve all read a hundred times before.

That's actually not true if they count all of the actresses that are not in SAG.
I don’t really know where I stand on this issue. If you make widgets, and people love your widgets, then you will (or should) be well compensated for the widgets.
The movie business is, it seems to me, all about getting people into the theater. So if they get can get butts into the seats, they should be compensated commensurately. Regardless of sex, race, orientation, heritage whatever.
On the flip side as a person who grew up in Los Angeles, I have been told that more often than not “the man” decides which films they, as a couple, will go see. So perhaps women are slightly under-represented as far as getting people into the theaters. I mean, you take a date out for dinner and a movie, maybe you pick a film that is more male-centric or somewhat ambiguous.
As for Johanssen, not much sympathy specifically for her. She has done extremely well and featured as the star of action films that drew a wide audience. Maybe she was “underpaid” I don’t know the specifics of her deals.
But as ever, the free market reigns. You get paid what you’re worth to whomever pays you. Don’t blame Hollywood producers for society. It is show business. Emphasis on business.

Hollywood women who have passed their ingenue date (ie: are no longer offered roles that require extreme femininity) have united to prevent young women from taking their place by doing the roles they used to get (very selfish IMO).

Black Widow is her character in the Avenger series. Already brought that up in my original post.
As for the others, Lost In Translation, I remember but only because Murray was in it. Never saw it.

It’s an astonishing list of ho-hum tv shows and movies. No wonder she’s only worth $165 million. Even that seems high - probably the majority of it from The Prestige and Avengers.
Anyone who ever listened to this women speak about her political and moral values is wishing they could was their ears out with soap. She is really nasty.
I’d say the very large majority of it was made with the Avengers. She’s in all of them, I think.
Good for her that she made that money. I think she’s fine as hell and has amazing boobs.

Well I liked her in Lucy but not really familiar with her other movies. Not a world class movie but watchable
