Jane Withers, an actress known as a foil for Shirley Temple as a child actress, as a star of the movie classic "Giant," and as larger-than-life Josephine the Plumber on a long-running series of TV spots, has died at 95.

Josephine the Plumber was played by Jane Withers… who knew. After seeing the pictures side-by-side I can see it.
I remember her in “Bright Eyes.” Such a great performance by a kid. Another one for the “wouldn’t have guessed still alive” file. R.I.P.

I had forgotten about those Josephine The Plumber commercials. She did them for quite a number of years.
Almost as long as Jesse White did the Maytag Repairman commericials.
I remember those ads too. The weird part is that I still use Comet cleanser.

She portrayed a terrific, over-the-top Texas Rancher/Oilman’s wife in Giant. RIP.
I remember her in Giant now...She was the oil-rich cowgirl wrapped in mink, and with her diamond earrings swinging away, bragged loudly about her old pal Jet at the big hoedown, but I always kinda wondered if she was supposed to be a model for women as Josephine the Plumber, or was it supposed to be that if an ordinary American housewife bought and used Comet, that she would be just like a real plumber? RIP
Another one of the “guess still alive” is Margaret O’Brien, the last of the female cast of the second “Little Women” movement. I met her years ago and she was as lively and nice as ever.
Wasn’t she the woman everybody thought Bick Benedict would marry, until he came back from Maryland with Elizabeth Taylor?

Anyone from that era would remember them but it’’s been a big gap since they ended up to now with her passing away. 95 is a good run. RIP
