Animal rights groups are working to save dozens of helpless service dogs left behind when the U.S. military completed its withdrawal on Tuesday local time from Afghanistan.
Dr. Robin R. Ganzert, CEO of Washington, DC,-based American Humane, said on Monday dozens of contract dogs have been left behind to be “tortured and killed at the hands of our enemies.”
“As the country’s first national humane organization and largest certifier of animal welfare in the world, it sickens us to sit idly by and watch these brave dogs who valiantly served our country be put to death or worse,” Ganzert said.
Another group, Veteran Sheepdogs of America, said on Monday it was attempting to get 51 working dogs out of Kabul. On Tuesday, the group said it was able to raise $1.67 million to charter a 737 plane to evacuate the animals, but needed another $500,000 to replace an animal rescue operation that “fell through.”

They’re contract dogs, handled by contractors, not military K9. IMO the Pentagon statement was disingenuous.

When fmr NFL player Michael Vick got in trouble for dog fighting PETA pitched a fit, UNTIL Al Sharlatan started running his big mouth accusing them of..... what else. PETA subsequently folded like a cheap camera. There’s a pattern of this going back to the days of them making death threats against babies who received animal organ transplants and intimidating little old ladies in fur coats. They never had the balls to pull that crap with any leather clad biker dudes, or chicks for that matter. Nor would those pasty faced bunny huggers dare venture into East LA, Little Havana, Ybor City or any barrios at night to try and bust up a cock fight.

I’m sure they did. But there are many more animal rights advocates who are definitely NOT affiliated with that crowd of Leftists. I’m one of them and I’m considered a certified member of the “far right”!
That just means that they are ‘contractor’ working dogs, there is no difference.
I have an ex-Marine friend who spent some time over there as a contractor. He is a professional trainer of top tier working dogs, up to and including ones for the Seal teams. His dogs would be contractor working dogs not military working dogs. No difference, they’re just playing word games with everyone.
The whole thing is sickening. Really beyond words.
Biden couldn’t even save the dogs! They will be shot by the victorious Talliban. They won by waiting us out. Americans have no stomach for long wars.
Bad enough what is in store for these dogs at the hands of the Taliban savages, but the real concern and pity should be for the women and girls of Afghanistan
