I hope Senate Republicans vote against it, but let it pass without a filibuster. Let the Dems own the political cost of putting women in ground combat units.

If young men are required to register, or face discrimination in jobs, education, loan qualifications, etc, young women should face the same requirement.

Why do we even have a selective service? The age of mass conscript army’s is long gone. It as useless to modern warfare as a pike formation or horse lancers

Sen Thom Tillis (R-NC)
Sen Dan Sullivan (R-AK)
Kevin Cramer (R-ND)
Sen Rick Scott (R-FL)
Marsha Blackburn (R-TN)
Tommy Tuberville (R-AL)

When a war comes with China we will start off outnumbered 4 to 1. The USA has never fought a war where we don’t have numbers on our side.

Few realize it now, but every American who can stand on two feet will need to fight in such a conflict for our nation to survive.

I do not want to see woman in combat. However in todays climate make everyone of them register. Want to play you got to pay.

Is there even a legal definition of “woman” these days?

I have always felt that women should register for,the draft. No reason not to be subject to it. Not registering violates the equal protection laws.

Did any of the ones who voted “no” say that women don’t belong in the armed forces?

If not, how did they justify voting no?

*****

Revolutionary War and War of 1812. Pretty sure the British Empire outnumbered us.

I don’t want to see women in front line combat roles.

But they can register and serve in other roles.

Modern technology makes mass conscript armies useless.

The Gulf War is good example of what happens to anyone trying to field a mass conscript army. You might as well save time and money and just shoot your conscripts yourselves.

BTW, Vietnam is just one example of where the US fought massively outnumbered. I cannot think of any battle in Vietnam where the US had a numbers advantage.

Israel uses women to fly drones.

That seems to be the perfect combat role for women, along with their support.

Women are and should be the sex of last result when it comes to the military. In history, only nations facing extinction threw young women into combat and to be honest only rarely even then.

Yes, women have been ‘shooting their mouths’ off, but that’s what women often do. It does not justify drafting them or making them subject to the draft—which of course has been inactive for decades.

Although it is extremely politically incorrect to notice this, but the fact is women possess an attribute unique to them that can guarantee a nation’s existence far beyond any contribution they may or may not make on the battlefield.

About the time of our Civil War Paraguay got into a disastrous war that resulted in the loss of close to 50% of its fighting-age men. Had women died in anywhere near that number, there would be no Paraguay today.

After Kabul, conscription will be their only option.
