A woman who boarded a BART train while tethered to her dog was dragged to her death after she briefly stepped off the train at a platform and the train pulled away with the dog still inside...
The fatal accident occurred at 3:16 p.m. Monday, just after the woman boarded an Oakland-bound train at San Francisco’s Powell Street station with her dog, which was tethered to her at the waist.
“Then at the very last second, right as the doors were closing, she fully off-boarded the train, clearing the doors, and the dog did not,”...“She appeared to be waving at someone. The train departed with the dog inside the train, and the woman was dragged and pulled into the track.”
The dog was not injured.

This can happen to anybody. Should have had him on a hand leash, where she would be forced to let go.
BART gives clear, loud warnings.
Husband tethers one of our dogs to his waist when we walk and I've never liked it.
Unleash the hounds of hell.
Ruff way to go.
Only seeing eye dogs should be allowed on mass transit.
Glad to hear that the dog was not injured.
As for the woman, she sounds like a Darwin award winner.
yes, please.
BART trains are run by computers.
Sometimes the older ways are better. A conductor on a NYC subway train, usually located mid-train, could have heard the woman and have the train stop.
Glad the dog was ok. Unless of course the dog is a Democrat.
Sounds like there may be an application for thinking brain dogs for some people.
If it had been a cat that was tethered. I would have been suspicious of the cat’s intents.
Dog be like: This is not our stop, girl.
Was she wearing her mask?
What a drag.
Many years back, my mother had a Saint Bernard. It was February and she asked me to walk him so he could do his business. I made the mistake of attaching the leash to my wrist. The dog decided that he wanted to run. I was dragged on my back for a block an a half. Luckily the sidewalks were all ice covered, so I had no injuries. I never did that again.
My brother used to perform with Rachel when they attended DePaul University. She’s a sweet girl and extremely talented.

I saw a video where a woman pushed her baby stroller into the train car, then stepped outside to answer a sudden cellphone call. Doors close. Woman runs around shrieking. Maybe that's what happened here.
Happy ending. It turns out there was a drunk on board the car, sees what happened, gets off with the kid at the next station and waits for momma. Next train comes along and momma spots the kid. Runs out screaming with happiness and hugs the drunk. While she's doing that, drunk takes another swig from his bottle.
