It’s pretty easy for pop culture parodies to fall flat when thrown into movie and TV comedies, usually because they’re little more than pandering attempts to recreate familiar scenes and quotes with no point other than to spark a sense of recognition in audiences. Seinfeld’s references to film, though, were often pretty decent, usually working well enough on their own that missing the reference doesn’t kill what’s funny about a scene in the first place.
There are also far more of them than you might remember, which becomes clear when either rewatching the whole series or checking out Yaron Baruch’s supercut of nearly three dozen movie-referencing scenes from the show.

This is why Seinfeld and Larry David are now so wealthy. It was comedy that was creative and mostly not politically slanted. Unfortunately there is little on the MSM which is actually very funny these days. You have typically have to look pretty hard to find good comedy.

I have a friend that worked in a high end automotive shop where Seinfeld, Leno and others brought their cars.
No one was allowed to make eye contact with Seinfeld.

I’ll have to check it out. There is very little in good standup comedy today because everything has been made political. Look at the late night talk shows they have been turned into sermons for the political left.
Johnny Carson didn’t obsess over politics for the entirety of his show every night. There might be a few political jokes in his monologue, but it was to poke fun at politicians on all sides of the political spectrum.
Today we live in a world where Jimmy Kimmel actually gets talking points for his show from Chuck Schumer.

Pretty funny when they had Wayne Knight in both the original and parody.
