News Clippings:

WaPo reports: Brazil’s unvaccinated (President Jair) Bolsonaro appears to break U.N. vaccine ‘honor system’ during address (he has already had COVID)... “We support vaccination efforts, however my administration has not supported a vaccine or health passport or any other vaccine-related obligations,” Bolsonaro said during his appearance. The Brazilian leader did not refer to his own vaccination status during his speech and said that almost 90 percent of the adult population had received at least one dose of a vaccine. The Brazilian leader opened the general debate Tuesday, per U.N. tradition, speaking ahead of President Biden. The Brazilian leader said his government supported vaccinations but also said that it supported “early treatment” for covid-19, with Bolsonaro suggesting he himself received this treatment on the advice of his doctors... There have been over 21 million cases of covid-19 in Brazil and over 590,000 deaths, according to tracking from The Washington Post.

International Business Times reports: Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) announced Tuesday that its booster shot provides even greater protection against COVID-19 when administered in a second dose. The drugmaker said that the shot has a 94% effectiveness against COVID-19 when administered two months after the first dose and increases antibody levels by as much as four to six times compared with a single dose of the vaccine. J&J said the vaccine’s safety “remained consistent and was well-tolerated” as a booster shot.... Six months after the first shot, the booster dose also appeared to offer more protection against the virus with antibodies produced twelvefold higher four weeks after the second shot, regardless of the age of the recipient, the company said... Side effects were also consistent with those seen with the single-dose COVID vaccine, the company said.

U.S. News & World Report reports: Putin Plans to Skip U.N. General Assembly After Sputnik V Vaccine Snub... The Kremlin did not offer a clear explanation for why Putin declined to travel to the U.N. General Assembly for the second time since the pandemic began, and the Russian Embassy in Washington, D.C., did not immediately respond to requests for comment. But the news follows reports of a coronavirus exposure among Putin's inner circle, forcing the strongman to enter isolation last week. Those concerns, along with claims Monday that a Russian election in which Putin's party won a majority was marred by massive fraud, likely prompted the Russian leader to stay at home. Putin's own vaccination status has been the subject of some speculation in Russia. (Sputnik-V uses the same technical approach as AstraZeneca (adenovirus vector), and has roughly similar effectiveness/safety - manufacturing facilities have not been certified by the WHO however, so Sputnik (neither the -V nor single shot Light versions) have not yet been approved by WHO)

AP reports: Ohio Rep. Bob Latta contracts COVID-19 after vaccination. U.S. Rep. Bob Latta became the second member of Congress from Ohio to test positive this week for COVID-19 despite being vaccinated against the virus (he has no symptoms). The Republican lawmaker from the 5th Congressional District announced Tuesday he contracted the virus after he was exposed to someone who also tested positive... U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan (47, mild symptoms, also from Ohio, a Democrat candidate (frontrunner) to replace Republican Rob Portman in the Senate) announced he had also joined the list of more than 80 members of Congress who have contracted the virus since it began to spread.

The Hill reports: Eric Clapton, an outspoken critic of COVID-19 vaccine mandates, apparently broke his vow not to perform at any venue requiring audience members to get their shots. The English musician was seen in social media posts taking to the stage on Saturday for a concert at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans.

Reuters reports: Under new U.S. rules, foreign nationals admitted to the United States on humanitarian grounds, who are not required to have COVID-19 vaccinations, will have to agree to be vaccinated upon arrival, according to a planning document seen by Reuters... Exemptions to that policy will include "children, COVID-19 vaccine clinical trial participants and humanitarian exceptions for people traveling for an important reason and who lack access to vaccination in a timely manner," the planning document said. (Likely aimed at Afghans, possibly the recent surge of Haitians over the Southern border, and/or general CYA for all the illegals they are waving in)

The Guardian (UK) reports: Demand soars for monoclonal antibody treatments in states with low vaccination rates... The demand for the treatment increased twentyfold in recent weeks because of the sharp rise in new cases accelerated by the Delta variant and lagging vaccination rates, and because of increased awareness of the treatment... Seven states that have seen Covid-19 rate spikes in recent weeks and months – Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee and Texas – have used 70% of the federal supply of monoclonal antibodies. In the face of a shortage of the treatment, the Biden administration has changed its allocation system, and some states are objecting to the reduced shipments... The Biden administration said on 9 September it would increase shipments of the treatment from 100,000 to 150,000 doses a week. Days later, the health department announced it would change the way the supply is distributed... “There wasn’t a lot of demand for monoclonal antibodies up until a month or two ago. This just popped up, and it’s going to take a while for the manufacturers to respond... The US government shored up supply last week by buying 1.4m more doses from Regeneron and 400,000 doses from Eli Lilly... About 2.4m treatments have been shipped around the country, and at least 1.1m of them have been used. For months, the antibodies sat on shelves because of testing delays and overwhelmed health systems. It’s important to receive the treatment as soon as possible after a positive test, but lags in testing make that difficult. And hospitals and infusion centers struggled to administer the treatment widely. “Our role as the government overseeing the entire country is to be equitable in how we distribute,” Jen Psaki, the White House press secretary, said in a briefing on Thursday. “We’re not going to give a greater percentage to Florida over Oklahoma.” (looks like they are allocating based on population, rather than caseload - watch them change again, if Dem States get higher caseloads)

Record Searchlight (California) reports: Assuming you have no other health issue and were otherwise approved to donate, you can give blood, platelets or plasma after a COVID-19 vaccine, according to the American Red Cross... Donors are encouraged to bring their CDC card or other card or printout received when they were vaccinated. This should include which COVID-19 vaccine(s) you received and the dates got them. According to the Red Cross, in most cases there's no wait time between showing your card and giving blood if: You are symptom free and feeling well, and You received an inactivated or RNA-based COVID-19 vaccine manufactured by AstraZeneca, Janssen/Johnson & Johnson, Moderna, Novavax or Pfizer... donors who received a live attenuated COVID-19 vaccine, or don’t know what type of COVID-19 vaccine they received, must wait two weeks before giving blood.”

Seattle Times (Washington State) reports: Why the delta variant is giving more children COVID. In the U.S., as of Sept. 16, more than 5.5 million children and adolescents had tested positive for the coronavirus since the start of the pandemic, according to the American Academy of Pediatrics. That represents 15.7% of all cases, though individuals under 18 make up 22.2% of the U.S. population. However, after declining in early summer, pediatric cases have increased exponentially and comprise a higher share of the total — 25.7% in the week ending Sept. 16, or almost 226,000 cases. That surge, coinciding with increased circulation of the delta variant... There’s no evidence that delta is targeting children more than other age groups, but vaccination rates are higher in older people... Covid-19 remains a mild disease in the vast majority of children, and there’s no evidence that delta is changing that... Children represent less than 0.25% of all Covid fatalities in the U.S., and their mortality risk is less than 0.03%, the academy said. Some children who have had Covid may later develop a rare but serious condition known as Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome in Children, although the cause is unknown... Studies and modeling of transmission patterns indicate that younger children and adolescents play a lesser role in spreading SARS-CoV-2 at a population level, and that prioritizing vaccination in older age groups yields more population-level protection against Covid.

WBNS (CBS, Ohio) reports: (Ohio Gov.) DeWine calls press conference Tuesday to discuss COVID-19, impact of delta variant on hospitals. The briefing comes amid a recent increase in COVID-19 hospitalizations. (Delta wave rolling North?)

US News & World Report: Maine Tops 1,000 Deaths as Delta Variant Fills Hospitals... According to the Maine CDC, 214 people are currently hospitalized, including 73 who are in critical care, which is the highest total since the pandemic began. There are currently 58 available critical care beds. The seven-day rolling average of daily new cases has risen over the past two weeks from 384 on Sept. 5 to 485 on Sept. 19... About three-quarters of Maine’s eligible population is fully vaccinated against the coronavirus. (Delta wave rolling North?)

WOKV (Jacksonville, FL) reports: Trials underway for COVID-19 delta variant booster in Jacksonville. Clinical trials are taking place right now for COVID-19 booster shots, one specifically formulated for the delta variant... Dr. Michael Koren has been running clinical vaccine trials at the Jacksonville Center for Clinical Research since July 2020... “Instead of using the older version of the vaccine, we are using a newer version that was specifically formulated just for the Delta variant.”...

KVIA (ABC, El Paso, TX) reports: 4 fully-vaccinated El Pasoans among 8 new Covid deaths... over the past week, the El Department of Public Health announced Monday. All eight deaths involved people with underlying health conditions, officials indicated, and included: 1 man in his 60s, 2 women in their 60s, 2 men in their 70s, 2 men in their 80s, 1 woman in her 80s. The total number of breakthrough deaths now stands at 22. (75% of residents are now fully-vaccinated - new Covid-19 cases and hospitalizations are on the decline in the area.)

Holy Cow! 212,255,202 Americans more scared of covid than the experimental vaccine. That is MORE than 3 times votes any candidate received in 2020.

I believe in numbers and data. This clearly shows Americans will NOT elect any candidate for president in 2024 who does not take covid seriously. Which means Kamala has a chance to win. Because PDJT or DeSantis will make the same mistake Trump made in 2020 by saying (paraphrasing) “this is just another flu and will die away when warm summer weather gets here”.

If instead PDJT has said in every rally, something like,
“this is an insidious virus released by China to destroy our greatest ever economy, and I am going to do everything in my power to protect the American people from covid”, Trump overcomes the fraud and wins by 5 million votes.

That’s a disconcerting thought. DeSantis’s candidacy is likely already DOA in that case.

There’s no nuance anymore. DeSantis has encouraged vaccination but has held that it’s a private choice and people shouldn’t face coercion or loss of their employment if they choose not to receive a vaccine. But the populace, and the media certainly reinforces this notion, seems to perceive that if you’re serious about covid, you’ll stridently support coercive government measures to force people to be vaccinated. The idea that you can encourage vaccination but support an individual’s right to choose not to vaccinate seems totally lost on far too many Americans.

With about 200M of 260M adults in the USA vaccinated (at least 1 shot), we only have about 60M remaining. I suspect somewhere around 40M of those are in the "over my dead body" camp, so there just are not that many more to go. Many of them are already immune, and for some that is the reason they will not get vaxed.

Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE my governor DeSantis. Voted for him in 2020 and will vote again for him for any position.

But that 212,255,202 number of Americans choosing an experimental vaccine should be an eye opener to any one with an ounce of political acumen.

According to the CDC we now need to know when people got their 2nd shot in order to know whether they are still considered vaccinated. The CDC has said if 2nd shot given before June, 2021, protection is not still active. That’s over 5 months worth of vaccinations. Those people should be considered unvaccinated unless they have gotten a booster. Length of protection from a booster? I haven’t seen any official info on that. About 80% of the population isn’t allowed to get the booster so millions are unprotected already and more each month. Yet they aren’t under any restrictions.

That’s a bit concerning.

All DeSantis needs to say is, “I believe in freedom of choice, but your doctor is best qualified to recommend vaccine for you”.

Too bad I can’t run for president. I am naturalized. I would chew and spit out Kamala during the debates.

at the end of february 2021 current president biden disbanded former president trump’s “operation warp speed” and transferred all responsibilities to the “white house covid 19 response team”...

and in the process he proceeded to open the border, invite, welcome, and freely spread hundreds of thousands of disease carrying invaders across our country during a “global pandemic”...

everything changed after biden and the demonrats stole the 2020 election...

we don’t know the ingredients of the so called “vaccines”...

we only know what biden, fauci, the cdc, the fda, the media, and the pharmaceutical companies want us to know...

why do you trust hypocrites, liars, and thieves???...

Stop worrying. My spouse has advanced cancer and has had nearly 100 treatments of chemo, radiation and Keytruda besides other meds. Her immune system is highly compromised. She is very weak and feeble with cancer. But she had the booster 3 weeks ago, with zero side effects. If she can handle the 3rd shot of booster, most people should be able to.

Her first 2 shots were in March & April.

I don’t want to contradict you, but this doesn’t appear to be correct in any search that I’ve tried:

“The CDC has said if 2nd shot given before June, 2021, protection is not still active.”

Was there a recent news report or something on this topic? Their current web site doesn’t have this statement, at least that I can find. Do you have a link or a reference?
