Pittsburgh is the only major city without an interstate highway beltway around its perimeter to ease the traffic burden of the 18th century goat paths that cause the average speed for most trips around western Pennsylvania to be at 30mph or less.
Before we move on to the 22nd century, it would be nice if they gave us the 20th century conveniences the rest of the country benefits from first.
A southern beltway is being built around greater Pittsburgh, but it’s under the auspices of the Pennsylvania Turnpike Authority, so any part that is already open has tolls.
