A shooting at a Northern California city councilmember’s home early Saturday morning has left one person dead and three others wounded, two with life-threatening injuries, according to reports.

The shooting happened just after midnight after a fight broke out at a party in Gilroy, at the home of Councilmember Rebeca Armendariz, FOX 40 of Sacramento reported.

"I am thankful that my family and I … were not hurt in this tragedy, and I pray for those whose loved ones have been touched by what has occurred," Armendariz said [...]. "We hope the Gilroy community will come together with love and support for those touched by yesterday’s events at the appropriate time."

Formulated so as to create the impression that Armendariz, herself, and her family were entirely removed from this incident and had absolutely no hand its precipitation. As though the injured / killed persons were complete strangers.

Well, at least she didn't ask for donations to a "Clean the Blood out of My Carpets" fund.

Gilroy is like Tijuana. Salinas is like Gilroy.

My wife really loved the Carmel/Monterrey area, and she would have moved there in a NY minute if we could have afforded it.

Friends suggested Gilroy or Salinas to live in and drive over to the coast whenever we liked. So she suggested those areas to live in, when I took early retirement.

A friend, who retired as a CHP warned us about the crime rates in those two cities.

That was 20+ years ago, and the rates are probably worse.
